The State Executive Committee has amended their bylaws allowing County Parties to support the re-election of a state wide constitutional office holder, currently in office, during a primary election. This only applies to State Wide Constituional Officers…Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Attorney General and Commissioner of Agriculture. This does not apply to any local or federal candidates and does not apply to races like State Senator and State Representative.
The Democratic Executive Committee meeting for this Monday, March 13th has been canceled. A notification will appear on this page when the meeting is rescheduled. Thanks!
When filing your state taxes, please remember to check the box donating $2 to the Democratic Party. That money comes back to the local party for advertising. Every dollar helps. Please check the box!
The Mercer County Democratic Executive Committee willl meet 6 p.m. Monday, February 13th at the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center.
We are so proud of our Democratic Candidates. They have all campaigned in an ethical manner. They’ve campaigned honestly, and not told lies, or even insinuated things that are untrue about their opponents. They’ve not repeated the negative things they’ve heard about their opponents an have all taken the high road and remained true to their characters and their beliefs. Of course, we want our candidates to win. But it’s the final race in life that’s more important than any race they’ll run in this election cycle, and that the’s the race that counts the most. Thank you candidates for campaigning in a clean, honest manner. Telling lies might win races, but not that race you really want to win in the end. Congratulations to all of you!
Remember: Early voting is Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Mercer County Clerks Office.
There is a letter to the Editor in this weeks Harrodsburg Herald that basically says the last three County Judge Executives in Mercer County were appointed by Democratic Governors and that we should not let Democratic Governors choose our County Judge Executives.
The law states that when a County Judge Executive position is vacant, the current Governor shall replace them. So, when there were vacancies, the Democratic Governors in office did just that. I can assure you, if you know anything about politics at all, a Republican governor in office would have appointed Republicans if there was a vacancy while they were in office.
Governor Beshear, nor any other Governor is choosing or appointing our next County Judge Executive. The voters will again choose a candidate based on experience and knowledge. The three Judge Executives that were appointed (John Trisler, Milward Dedman and Scott Moseley) have all been excellent in that capacity, proven by the fact that the voters of this county elected Trisler to a term after his appointment and Dedman more than once following his initial appointment, attesting to the fact that the voters of this county thought they were doing the job required of them well.
Governor Beshear appointed Scott Moseley, as he knew him to be most qualified for this job, and the voters of Mercer County will have an opportunity to choose him on November 8th to continue in that position. He has governmental experience and the knowledge to move this county forward. Scott recently sold a successful business and has served government on the city, county and state levels. Vote for Scott Moseley on his government experience and the fact that he is currently doing a great job.
