Old Guy Diving
How to run away from home and become a scuba bum even when you're way old enough to know better!
So, what did you do today?
If it can't be a shark, let it be a turtle. :-)
Anyone looking for a new pet?
It's just never a bad day on the Spiegel.
My dive buddies.
A whole different feeling at night.
When I visited Truk Lagoon in January, there was a videographer named Gary Tyson on the dive boat who labored every day to get extraordinary footage of our dives. The result is this beautiful film (including a brief cameo of someone you know).
Truk Lagoon Micronesia. Scuba diving the shipwreck capital of the world, January 2024. Scuba diving in Truk Lagoon, aboard the Masterliveaboards Pacific Master Liveaboard, January 2024. All shot in 4K and featuring unscripted feedback from gue...
Happy Easter!
Nice morning on the Duane, too.
I just put my video from Truk Lagoon on YouTube.
Truk Lagoon The trip of a lifetime!
That moment when you're thinking, "Gee, I haven't seen a shark for a pretty long while."
We've been weathered out for a while so I just thought we should revisit some old favorites.
Just another day in the water.
Low viz on the Spiegel. But hey, it's still the Spiegel.
Do you see a cannon?
Neither did anyone else, until Sail Fish Scuba discovered it next to the Hannah M Bell wreck in 2018. (Hint: it's the tube-like object on the left.)
Now you can visit this historic artifact, and become a certified Heritage Awareness Diver, on October 6th & 7th, 2023.
We'll do classroom work on Friday, 10/6 and four heritage dives on 10/7, visiting two wrecks, this cannon, and a historic anchor we discovered last month, as well as other historic artifacts.
We're so excited about this event that we've discounted the course and the dives. So don't miss this great opportunity to learn about marine archeology and do some incredible diving!
Go to our website (sailfishscuba.com), click Book Now on Scuba Diving in Key Largo. Then click on Advanced Courses. And it's right there, first one: Heritage Awareness Diver 1.5 day Discounted Course.
Only 10 spots available and they're going fast. Be one of the first 10, and you're in!
Did you read Florida Keys Free Press today?
Great story on Sail Fish Scuba's recent discovery of a historic anchor just off French reef!
Want to learn more about our submerged historic resources and the Florida Keys' rich maritime history? Join us on October 6 & 7 and become certified as a Heritage Awareness Diver. (We are the only dive shop in the Keys that teaches this specialty course.)
The two-day adventure includes four dives to see historical artifacts, including two wrecks identified by NOAA marine archeologists, and our recently discovered anchor.
Go to sailfishscuba.com, click "Book Now" on any of the course offerings. Click "Scuba Courses, Advanced" and you'll see Heritage Awareness Diver on the top left. The course and the dives are discounted for this special occasion, so don't wait. Book now!
Only 10 spots available. And they're going fast.
See you in October!
Cleanup activities took place in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, under permits from Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and FWC.
Save the date! October 6 & 7, 2023.
It's official! We're doing a thing! And you can join us if you're one of the first 10 people to reserve a spot.
Our recent anchor discovery has generated so much interest, we're hosting a dive tour to visit it. But that's not all (as they say on the game shows). We're going to make it an event to remember!
The anchor isn't the only discovery of an historic artifact made by Sail Fish Scuba: we also found a cannon near the Hannah M Bell wreck. (No, not the one that's sitting out on the sand. Another one that's really, really hard to find.)
Sail Fish Scuba is also the only dive shop in the Keys that offers certification for Heritage Awareness Diver. (Do you see a theme emerging here?)
On Friday, October 6th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, we'll be offering the classroom portion of our Heritage Awareness Diver course. (Special pricing; it's a deal!)
Then, on Saturday, October 7th we'll do a morning dive on Elbow reef to complete the Heritage Awareness Diver course, and visit the cannon.
For our afternoon dive we'll visit the newly discovered anchor. A rare opportunity to visit both artifacts discovered by Sail Fish Scuba. (We blush.) And get a very unique certification, which will enhance your enjoyment of diving in the maritime-history-rich Florida Keys.
How do I sign up for that wonderful offer! (I hear you say.) Go to our website (sailfishscuba.com), click Book Now on Scuba Diving in Key Largo. Then click on Advanced Courses. And it's right there, first one: Heritage Awareness Diver 1.5 day Discounted Course.
Be one of the first 10, and you're in!
Want to do the dives but not take the course?
Call and get on our waiting list for the Saturday dives. If we don't fill the boat with people taking the course, we'll add people to the dive manifest on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ocean is full or surprises. Here's your chance to see two of them and learn more about our underwater history. (The folks in the know call them Submerged Cultural Resources. Clever, no?)
Call or click today. Limited to the first 10 who jump in!
So, this is happening.
Sail Fish Scuba Where divers and snorkelers and anyone who loves the ocean can connect!
Just your typical day at work, and then this.
Sibling Rivalry.
The first book has 50 reviews on Amazon (mostly five-star) and the second has only 15. Now they're fighting. Can you help? Let the folks out there know you read and enjoyed them!
Having lunch with friends.
What can you do that's fun on a rainy day? Read a good book! Or even one of mine.
