Repost from Fun day beating the heat and holiday crowds today.

I-10 traffic tried its best but Matt and I still got an early start. Greeted by an empty river, the day was off to a good start. Cicadas began singing louder in the trees as the day warmed up. As welcomed clouds rolled in the fishing only got better. We threw popper bugs until the early afternoon. Catching them all the way to the ramp.

Thank you for letting me coach you up Matt, appreciate spending the day with you.

Calling to action Texas anglers and fish enthusiasts! We want YOUR help to track occurrences of our native Texas fishes.

Introducing the Fishes of Texas iNaturalist Contest!

Every 2 months we will spotlight a different species starting off with the state fish of Texas, Guadalupe Bass. Win this first challenge by submitting the most observations of Guadalupe Bass to the Fishes of Texas Project on iNaturalist between July 1st- August 31st. Each submission will strengthen the dataset used by TPWD and researchers across the state to aid in the conservation of Guadalupe Bass and our river ecosystems 🐟

Contest Rules:
• Observations must occur between July 1st – August 31st and tagged to the Fishes of TX iNaturalist project.
• One fish per observation with photo quality good enough to correctly ID to species.
• Location information must be within 100m of accuracy.

Repost from Happy Friday, y’all!

Repost from Summer mornings means waking up early with nature. On the fishing side it’s the most variety we see all year. Keeping a couple rods ready for shots at big bass up shallow, gar, cichlids and what ever else we can spot in the clear water.

Before the heat sets in, every critter is trying to go about their business. This day .brett and I witness a bobcat swim across the river then casually walk along the banks before disappearing. One of the biggest I’ve ever seen.

Repost from Over the weekend Hunter and I got to spend a great day on the water fly fishing in Texas. We went out with and . It was a much needed relaxing fishing trip after a week of remodeling the kitchen. Bonner put us on a bunch of fish. I highly recommend going out with these guys.
