Progress…the teak is back!

It takes a vision and appreciation to see the value and potential beauty in old things. It also requires time, patience, and passion. Since it’s summer, it’s time for COAST Marine edition once more. We have a long road ahead, but we have the vision and passion to know she will be beautiful once again. Hopefully, we find more time and patience!

Shutter Finale…delivered some time ago but they turned out well. I decided to do a brown wax to create a custom aged effect.

Time for a decorative shutter project for a design client and thankful for a beautiful Spring day.

It’s a sad down at our building. For those of you that loved the beautiful mahogany shutters as much as we did, you can thank the Frederick Historic Preservation Commission for making us paint them. After a nearly year long battle and repeated evidence to support that no where in their guidelines does it state shutters must be painted, the City has taken us to court and continued to fine us for a violation.

I also love that every time I walked through the doors at City Hall for a HPC hearing, I was sure to mention the entry doors are stained wood, even though our shutters are not acceptable. I was told, “well, that’s government.”

So, I would like to extend a big for your inconsistent guidelines and inability to listen to logic, reason, and evidence.

“Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a better person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in.”

Finally done with this piece after major delays from being sick with the flu. Her stain was in really bad shape so we sanded her down back to her original grain and then applied a fresh coat of natural stain to show off her lines. Black chalk paint on the top and sides to add interest and fresh gold paint on the hardware. She’s a brand new piece again!!

Happy Thanksgiving from COAST!! We love a good Holiday table and especially when we get to use all our family heirlooms and vintage finds. I mixed my great grandmother’s China with new pieces, antique napkin rings and salt and pepper shakers, my parents French crystal stemware, and my mom’s silver butter dish. It makes it so special!

New furniture project for a client. We lightened her space with a fresh coat of soft white walls, so now she needs contrast in her furniture pieces. This shelf is on its way to black…

Our new obsession…stair treads!! These are inexpensive, instantly installed, removable, and washable and provide and instant update and transformation to tired stairs!!

It has been such a pleasure to be a member of the Women in Business Committee through the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. I can't express the gratitude I feel for meeting and working alongside so many incredibly successful, insightful, and driven women in our local community. Finally and officially finished our basement bathroom. Everything, except the shower and sink faucet, is repurposed and those are pink table runners I bought on clearance hanging on the wall with octopus towel hooks in the middle. Oh, and oyster mirror made by COAST!
