At Atcher Service, we know that if you are calling us, you are already having a rough day.
You will get quality service including towing / recovery for breakdowns or accidents, tire changes, jump starts, lock outs, fuel delivery, repair, more to come
This is the reality of our jobs. To those of you that moved over, thank you. To those of you that did not even attempt to slow down, please be considerate ..Please Slow Down or MOVE OVER!
Stay home if you can. We will not be running today unless its an emergency due to dangerous winchills.
Tow bans are still in place and likely will be another couple of days. We can put you on the list and call you when its lifted.
If you attempt travel, take a safe bag. Have blankets, flashlights, water and snacks, and clear any snow away from your exhaust. Stay in your car!
(1-14 7 a.m.) High winds causing whiteout conditions and frigid temperatures remain in Iowa this morning, causing travel to be treacherous in many areas. Where travel is not advised, PLEASE stay off the road. Our crews are as as much as possible, but roads remain very icy and are blowing shut just about as quickly as the plows can clear them in some areas.
Get updated travel information at www.511ia.org or the Iowa 511 app.
We have been called on a truck that we cant get to due to the drifts.
Please people, stay home!
And another update! County plows are making their way out. Several folks are also trying to get places. Some are getting stuck or aren't able to get through snow drifts and abandoned vehicles in the roadway. We are doing our best to help everyone but its a slow process. Please, please, please do not travel if you don't need to until a plow has cleared your road.
(1-12 5:20 PM) As expected, towing is not recommended in 80 counties in Iowa, covering over 80% of the state. Additionally, approximately half of the state is experiencing travel not advised, with several road segments deemed impassable. The affected counties with impassable road conditions include Monona, Crawford, Sac, Pottawattamie, Plymouth, Hamilton, and Hardin.
Tow bans are again in place. The best we can do is put you on a list. Please be safe.
Be smart, be safe!
RIP JJ

FYI
If you will be traveling through Central Iowa next week, you'll want to be aware of the full closure on I-35 overnight Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so we can set beams on a new bridge. https://bit.ly/3RbZccB
There are going to be bicyclists all over Iowa soon, but July 26 is expected to be the "biggest" day of RAGBRAI with up to 75,000 riders expected. Here's a map to help avoid the main RAGBRAI route, although you should watch for bikes that might stray from the designated route.
FYI -This map has been updated since the original post to properly identify NW Madrid Ave. Iowa 415 south of Polk City will be open during RAGBRAI. We're sorry for any confusion.
Our hearts are heavy for this operator's family! Prayers for all involved.
A friendly reminder to please slow down and MOVE OVER! You don't want something like this on your concience!
