Last night, I volunteered at the Michigan McDonalds Turkey Giveaway event in Richfield Township! It is important that families in need have a delicious Thanksgiving meal on their table. A huge shout out to local owner operator Rob Spangler for spearheading this initiative and all the other volunteers who worked tirelessly to make it a success.

Last night I presented a tribute to Bill Rykhus for his retirement from the Lapeer County Historical Society. Under Bill's guidance as President, the Lapeer County Historical Society soared to new heights.

Notably, he championed the Davis Brothers Farm Shop Museum, the venue for the Society's annual Farm Fest from 2005-2018 and the establishment of a permanent museum site, providing a fitting home for our extensive collection of artifacts.

His commitment to preserving our agricultural history shines brightly through this initiative. Here's to you, Bill, and the legacy you leave behind!

Just received this message from my sister who lives near our countries southern border in Arizona. And yet we are all still being told in the news media that our borders are safe!

“Human smugglers are turning off their headlights and using night vision goggles to evade detection. I guess they can drive up to 100 mph undetected down the highways around here.”

Meet 07/11/2023

The Senate committee did pass out the solar/wind siting bills in committee today! All Democrats voting yes, all Republicans voting no. Please encourage anyone you know to take a few minutes and call every member of the Senate Democratic caucus, let them know your position in this terrible policy that they are supporting. Then send every one of them an email reinstating the same!

The Democrats will need every one of their members voted in order for this legislation to pass! This is our last chance to stop this terrible legislation from becoming law and giving Governor Whitmer a national recognition to promote herself to a higher office. Please share this post and see the following link for a list of Senate Democrats to contact.

Did you know that currently Michigan is one of only two states that do not require elected officials to disclose their financial ties? As a matter of fact, we rank last for accountability and ethics in state government operations.

In 2022 Michigan voters approved Proposal 1 to address these concerns and increase transparency in our state government. This week, the Senate passed a significant bipartisan package that brings much needed sunshine into Michigan state government. While there is more work to do, this is a great first step to ensure elected officials are not profiting from their work at the Capitol.

It's an absolute privilege to share a special moment from earlier this week as we bid a fond farewell to a dedicated public servant who has served our community faithfully. Paul Spencer, the one and only male County Clerk in Lapeer County, Michigan, is retiring after years of outstanding service.

Paul has been a shining example of what it means to be committed to our community. Throughout his tenure, he has worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth functioning of our local government, always with a smile and a willingness to help. His dedication to the people of Oregon Township and Lapeer County is truly commendable! Lets wish him a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement.

Today in Lansing, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kylie Spiekerman from the Michigan Sugar Queens Court! Kylie, a Saginaw native, is an impressive senior who's passionate about political science and is currently pursuing her studies at Saginaw Valley State University. We had a fantastic discussion about her academic pursuits, and it's clear she has a bright future ahead.

I had the opportunity to visit Fernco in Davison yesterday. Established in 1964, Fernco's journey began in a Master Plumber's garage with the 'Donut' patent, and they have since grown to create cutting-edge plumbing products, all thanks to their dedicated and hardworking team. Thank you for taking the time to show me around!

Been on the Senate Floor since 10 am voting on a few bills then waiting most of the day for the Dems to pass their New Green Deal for MI! 5:30 pm and we are still here! In my opinion all to help the Gov on her bid for national attention! A shameful plan to put our state in the wrong direction!

24/10/2023

Today, I rose to speak on an important amendment I introduced to House Bill 4568, a bill that would remove the prohibition on paying for a vehicle to transport voters to an election.

With the amendment I proposed, it will be illegal to display any campaign or political material in the car used to transport voters. This measure is intended to create a fair and unbiased environment as voters travel to the polls.

In our democracy, it's essential that the voting process remains free from undue influence, ensuring that voters can make informed, independent choices. This amendment was designed to uphold these common sense principles.

I had the privilege of hosting a group of bright and engaged students from Gates Elementary School in Davison today on the House Floor with State Representative David Martin! These young minds are our future leaders, and it was an absolute pleasure to show them around our State Capitol and share insights into the legislative process.

This morning, State Representative Greg Alexander and I presented a tribute to the Mayville High School Football Team for receiving the Detroit Lions Touchdown in Your Town Award!

This recognition is well-earned and celebrates competitive team environments that foster physical activity habits and leadership traits that help students learn and succeed on and off the field.

This is a serious problem that started since the current Secretary of State Benson took office! Thank you for bringing up again Charlie!!

Janet used to live in my house 25 years ago.
She moved to Texas.
I've informed the Michigan secretary of state and my city clerk of this at least a half dozen times.
Nevertheless, in the last five years, I have received in the name of Janet: at least seven absentee ballot applications, her voter ID card -- and today -- instructions on how to vote early.
If they want people to believe in the results, then election officials are going to have to work harder, follow the laws they swore to uphold, and do their damn jobs.

Thank you, Delia Kreiner, who is a Sophomore at Lapeer High School, for joining me today and seeing first hand how our state government functions. I have no doubt you have a bright future ahead, and I can’t wait to see the positive impact you will make on our community!

Today was an incredible day as I had the privilege of touring some remarkable businesses right here in Lapeer County, alongside the CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Quentin Messer.

Our first stop was 3-Dimensional Services Group where innovation and precision come together to create rapid manufacturing services.

Next we visited Pentier Group who specializes in automated manufacturing solutions that will shape the future of manufacturing in Michigan.

We then headed over to KM International who have been manufacturing high quality asphalt maintenance equipment that can be found worldwide for over 30 years.

Finally, we stopped by Michigan Fasteners, one of only four nail manufacturers in the entire United States.

I want to thank these businesses for taking the time to open their doors to us today, and to CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Quentin Messer for coming to Lapeer County and joining me. Together, we're committed to supporting businesses, like these, that make Michigan exceptional!
