Are there any seamstresses concerned about their fabric scraps going into the landfill? This is a solution that I am currently using.
Textiles comprise 5% of landfills and are slow to break down. How often are you throwing fabric scraps (or soiled and torn clothing that can't be resold) in the trash not knowing what else you can do with them? If that concerns you, here are the companies that recycle textiles and turn them into cushions and other fillable goods. It is as easy as ordering a bag, filling it and dropping at the post office postage paid.
www. Erthaware.com (note there is no a after the letter e) Order a bag for $5 or better yet order 2 and drop the price to $2.50/bag. Return postage to the company is included in that price. You receive the bags within a few days.
Trashie https://www.trashie.io/tbb-collection The take back bag. This company works a little differently. Buy a bag for $20, fill it and send it back postage paid BUT you receive a $20 credit to use in any of their stores. Your credits are cumulative so the more you use their bags the more credits.
Both companies accept fabric scraps, soiled or torn clothes that can’t be resold. They do not accept fabric that is wet or has a chemical such as Paint thinner on it.
The Take Back Bag Trashie is the biggest DTC clothing recycler in the USA. No other program or platform compares to our ubiquity, size or measurable impact.
