High Country Adaptive Sports

Hey, HCAS fam!

We are so thankful to Snowbowl for including us as the beneficiary of their first Summer Brew Fest tomorrow!

We will be set up with a couple of our adaptive mountain bikes on the lower deck of Agassiz lodge, which is a wheelchair accessible space.

The beer tasting will be set up on the rooftop, which is only accessible by stairs. We will have team members running to/from the tasting for anyone who wants to participate, but isn't able to take the stairs.

Tickets are $25, and all proceeds will go to HCAS!

We are so excited to partner with Care4thecaregivers this Summer! We’ll be hosting a Kayak Event on June 27th and would love for you to join us- all are welcome ☀️🐠🕶️ Contact us for more information to sign up!

Today is our official summer kick-off! We will be a Buffalo Park at 5:30 pm to kickoff our Discovery Camp, and you can now sign up for private and group lessons via your accountsx portal or by DMing, calling, or emailing us. Can't wait to see you outside!

We invite our community members with intellectual/developmental disabilities (of all ages!) to join us for a summer filled with FRIENDS, NATURE & FUN!

The locations are still being decided, but the schedule is SET - we will be gathering on several Wednesdays throughout the summer to explore some of our favorite spots in and around Flagstaff.

Activities are dependent on enrollment, so sign up and invite a friend!

We had a blast hosting our 3-day Veterans Ski Camp! Huge shoutout to our friends at Adaptive Adventures for making this event possible and the Gun Fighter Foundation for supporting our organization and volunteering!!

🪨 We are so thankful to our friends for hosting our weekly indoor rock climbing class!
🪨 This 2-hour class meets every Wednesday from 3-5 pm year around!
🪨 Classes are only $10 for HCAS athletes

⛷️ What: 2nd Annual AZ TetraSki Express Qualifying Race and Luncheon
⛷️ When: February 22nd, 9:30 - 1:30
(join us for lunch starting at 12)
⛷️ Where: AZ Snowbowl, lot 8
⛷️ Why: Cheer on our athletes with complex physical disabilities as they compete using the incredible TetraSki

Participate several ways:
✨ As a spectator: Tickets are $40 and include lunch, community, and a great time!
✨ As a group sponsor: sponsor a group of friends/colleagues and enjoy the day together!
✨ As a vendor: sponsor a vendor booth for $100 and spread the word about your goods/services within our community

Did you know.....

❄️ Last year we were the FIRST group to ever provide an adaptive ski lesson for someone fully blind and deaf at The Arizona Snowbowl

❄️ We have been the ONLY group providing adaptive ski/snowboard lessons at Az Snowbowl since 2015

❄️ Last year's TetraSki National Champion is our dear friend , who learned how to ski with HCAS

❄️ This summer we provided around 225 adaptive mountain bike lessons

❄️ We have a river trip planned for Spring 2024 in collaboration with

As many of you know, The City of Flagstaff/PROSE recently installed shiny, beautiful adaptive workout equipment in 6 of the established spots along the trail at Buffalo Park (as well as doing some accessible trail maintenance), encouraging people with disabilities to enjoy the park alongside their able-bodied peers (great work, PROSE!!)

Join us as we celebrate this project at Buffalo Park for a Field Day on Saturday, November 18th!

Pre-season Registration is open! If you are a Flagstaff local, or returning student, you can now sign-up for pre-season lessons starting December 15th! Regular Season lesson registration will open December 1st for lessons begining January 1st.

Please note: Preseason conditions exist with not all trails/terrain being available. Check the Snowbowl website for current conditions.

It was a beautiful day on the mountain for Staff Orientation with friends old and new!

We are so excited for ski season with this enthusiastic, adventurous team.

Volunteer Orientation and Training sign-ups are open! Join us at the East Flagstaff Community Library from 4:30 - 6:30 PM on Thursday, Nov 30. We will catch up on our summers, learn about new changes for this season, meet your fellow volunteers, and answer questions from you.

All volunteers are required to attend orientation and one on-snow training day.

On-snow training dates: December 16th or 17th from 9 AM - 3 PM
Sign-up for both through your HCAS portal under 'Clinic Registraion"

Consider giving up ONE coffee/tea/movie rental a month in order to make a small monthly donation to HCAS, and imagine the difference it could make......

Join HCAS and the NAU Department of Physical Therapy for a day of kayaking at Lake Mary on Sunday, October 1st, from 1pm-5pm.  This event is for the Flagstaff Local disability community only. All ages are welcome to join! Click the link in our bio to sign up!

Winter is right around the corner! Registration will open in November for December pre-season lessons, which will include one experienced and one new instructor in training. These lessons are limited and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
