Robertson County Community Drive!โค๏ธ

Thank you Robertson County (TN) Chamber of Commerce for organizing this drive with Family Resource Center + Connecting Robertson County!

With the quick drop in temperatures, there is an URGENT need for coats at the Family Resource Center + Connecting Robertson County. As you clean out your closets to switch out Summer clothes for Fall and Winter, we would love to collect any coats your children have outgrown or anything you no longer need.

Any businesses who would like to be a drop off point to make this collection easier, please send us a message and we will add you to this post. For now, you can drop them off at the Chamber or the Family Resource Center located at Bransford Elementary.

If it is easier for you to purchase one via an Amazon wishlist, Small Town Startup has created one to make it easy to help fill this need in our community. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3UAMAF7OO7MHO/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex

If you are not in a spot to give, please take a few seconds to share this post to your page so that we can reach any one who may be able to help. Our last coat drive brought in approximately 200 coats. Now, lets set a new record!

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“– Take a look at Jo Byrns Elementary students that are actively participating in their monthly "Byrning through Books" reading challenge!

Families at JBES are encouraged to read with their students each night and initial their punch card. Once they have reached 20 nights within the month, students turn in their card to their teacher to be entered into a drawing for their grade level to receive 3 House points and a visitor's lunch pass! The picture below are their winners for the month of September!

โ—Reading Matters quick fact: A student who reads 20 minutes a day will be exposed to 1,800,000 words per year! This small contribution means that they will most likely score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests!๐Ÿ“ˆโœ…

We challenge all RCS Students to read at least 20 minutes daily! ๐Ÿ•’

District Announcement:

The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) public school funding formula marks a significant change in how Tennessee invests in public education. The TISA funding formula updates the way Tennessee funds public education for the first time in over 30 years to empower each student to read proficiently by third grade, prepare each high school graduate for postsecondary success, and provide resources needed for all students to ensure they succeed.

As part of TISA, T.C.A. ยง 49-3-112 requires each school district, starting in the 2023-24 school year, to submit an annual accountability report to the Tennessee Department of Education (department). This report must include goals for student achievement, an explanation of how the district's stated goals can be met within the district's budget, and starting in the 2024-25 school year, a description of how the districtโ€™s budget and expenditures from the prior school year enabled the district to make progress toward the stated student achievement goals.

Each district's TISA accountability report is required to be presented to the public for review and comment before the report is submitted to the department. The report must be submitted annually to the department by November 1st.

Furthermore, each districtโ€™s TISA accountability report is required to be reviewed annually by the TISA Progress Review Board pursuant to T.C.A. ยง 49-3-114 to determine whether the school district is taking the proper steps to achieve their stated goal.

Our district's report can be found at: https://www.rcstn.net/departments/budget-and-finance/tisa-accountability-report
