Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Cara. I’m on my second pass of The Artist’s Way, helping the Lush Artists to go through it after it made a big impact on me last year. Today in my journal I used some prompts because my journal has become an endless list of to do, should do, need to do, and not enough get to do or want to do.

One prompt was describe myself in five words: Funny, Creative, Loyal, Opinionated, Curious. Then it asked if I’d change those. F**k no I wouldn’t. 6th thing would have probably been Filthy Mouthed.

Next prompt was finish this sentence: My life would be incomplete…. without the people in it and the adventure I seek.

Last prompt was reflect on a phrase or quote: I chose “Artists who seek perfection in everything are those who cannot attain it in anything.” Being a creative is a lot about experimenting and learning through failure. If you’re afraid to try, afraid to fail, you’ll be afraid to create. I often say (and TRULY believe) that it’s not about the painting. It’s about how the painting makes you feel. Who you are as you create. Being afraid to be bad at something before improving means you’ll never improve. Being stagnant is the worst sort of hell. I can’t imagine my life now if I hadn’t picked up a paint brush 15 years ago. If I hadn’t opened Lush Art my life would be missing so many amazing lessons and people. I’m so proud of the people I’ve brought to the creative life.

I have been feeling unfulfilled in this because owning a small business is so so so fu***ng hard. Relying on people to reach into their pockets and support your dream for them is hard. I do it because I believe in it, I believe in you, I believe this can help you grow.

We were a debt free profitable business before shut downs and it’s been a struggle and endless debt since. But I keep going. But in order to keep going, I need support from you.
