FUN FACT FRIDAY: Many times people hear misinformation and it drives me INSANE when people will then repeat said information like it is 100% accurate! So I try to educate those who will take the time and are interested in learning
Regarding the recording of audio/video and the law. I have told A LOT of people that they were incorrect when they have stated that a recording of their conversation is not admissible in Court because they were not advised they were being recorded--- FALSE. ONLY ONE PARTY TO A CONVERSATION NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF THE RECORDING. Of course this means that technically it prevents others like law enforcement of eavesdropping.
Here is the federal law that applies to all states (please be advised that Federal supersedes state ALWAYS:
One-party consent laws: For the audio recording of private conversations, this law (18 U.S.C. 2511(2)(d))2 allows recording of phone calls or, most importantly for home security cameras, in-person conversations with the consent of at least one of the parties. That means as long as you or another consenting adult are the parties in the audio being recorded, you’re free and clear to keep those audio equipped cameras rolling. source:https://www.security.org/security-cameras/legality/
