WhatsApp Accounts Stolen by Hackers/Hijackers - Act Now: BIG SCAM IS GOING ON.
1) If you receive a WhatsApp request from a close friend or family member requesting to transfer money (The picture and name will match their stolen profile). Please DON'T transfer the funds and immediately contact the person directly outside WhatsApp.
2) If they hack one of your friends or family members' WhatsApp accounts, they will send you a WhatsApp request asking you to join a group with a verification code (thru SMS, Phone Call or email) from WhatsApp. Usually, the hackers send the request using your close friend or relative profile pic & name. The phone number is always different than the original number. Please STOP your conversation and immediately block the contact.
3) Please enable Two-factor authentication with an email address & PIN Number to be safe.
UNLESS YOU KNOW IT IS 100% SAFE, do not click the group request links and share Passcode, EVEN IF IT COMES FROM SOMEONE YOU TRUST.
In the last two weeks, many people we know got victimized and sent money to the hackers.

Chetana derives from a sanskrit word meaning Consciousness, the core vision on which the Chetana Foundation emerged. We are a non-profit organization based out of Portland, started in 2016, by local community members of Indian origin with a mission to spread happiness through 'sangha seva' (sanskrit word for 'selfless service to community'). Helping people from all walks of life regardless of race, religion, income levels, cultural and political beliefs is a key driver for Chetana volunteers who have been actively undertaking several social welfare programs to help local communities, specifically in the Portland and Pacific Northwest region. To name a few, below are a list of initiatives currently being driven by Chetana Volunteers.
