This is Gideon, our cat who has been with us for 8 years. My son saved him when he was just a kitten, someone found him under the hood of a truck in Texas. He is really handsome and has a big personality for sure!

Gideon is the inspiration behind my latest creation. I took a picture of him and it was so beautiful that I decided to design a dress that would showcase his face. The dress I created is a long and loose-fitting dress with a cowl neck and no sleeves. It flows beautifully and I think it does Gideon justice!

The moment my feet hit the ground in Roma, I knew I was home. There is nothing anywhere in the world that I have experienced that brings me such joy and inspires me to push myself, and create things outside of my comfort zone.

The depth and beauty of the people's love and their priorities of family, friends, and food are truly inspiring. 🤍
And their emotions! Americans have maybe one or two words to describe an emotion. The Italians normally have at least 10!

But above all, it's the profound love that the people possess that moves me. They love deeply and unabashedly 💖
As I walk the streets, I become a sponge, absorbing the light, music, architecture, air, smells, and beautiful dialect. Italy truly has it all, and it inspires me to bring that same vibrancy and depth into my art.

Behind every design lies a story of creativity and experimentation ✨

Creating this design was a journey of experimentation and self-discovery. Initially, oil painting was challenging for me. I needed more control and the process required many products and steps just to begin prepping! I have since moved forward with acrylics, and have never returned to oil!

I pushed through to achieve a marbleized effect, inspired by a beautiful bookstore in Rome. The result was a success to me, as I was able to bring this texture to life on the fabric. The abstract results were a pleasant surprise, and I learned to trust my vision and let the design speak for itself.

This past week I have witnessed the most beautiful cloud formations. I’m obsessed with light and dark. Chiaro e Scuro. I designed this textile to reflect a photograph I had taken when the light had broken through the clouds. I had the fabric sewn into a duster coat and it is being worn here by the beautiful Lisa Carrington. .❤️
