A surname that defended our brothers and sisters appeared in my research today. More research on my Turner family was done and I was able to locate a tax record from the Johnston County Courthouse in 1863 that list the names of my great great great grandmother Clara and her children. Armeritto and Harriett.
These were the first names of Tubman (Harriet)
Armeritto or in her ladder years (Amber) at 103 sued a local merchant S.H Massey for her forty acres so that she could regain her land in Johnston County. I admire her tenacity at such frail stages of her life.
Meantime my first Cameroonian Tikar ancestor appears in a dna data bank. I spoke to her and found out she is a niece to the king of Bankim. I’m so honored to know my dads’s maternal history and the lineage back to Africa.
