I have been inspired by my backpacking around the globe (166+ countries to date!) and my love of the natural beauty of wood. On my journeys, I have always admired the versatility and artistry of wood and how it’s shapes, colors, grains and patterns tell us about the culture of it’s origin. I hope you ca
n see this in many of my pieces – from the Buddha Pillbox, to the Mayan calendar iphone skins, and even my golf ball markers made from our beautiful American Walnut. All of them attempt to show you how wood can be incorporated in your everyday life, and inspire you too! Sometimes I just have the wood speak for itself: - Swirling burl money clips made from Amboyna (indigenous to the West Pacific region) and light and soft Californian Redwood burl in my compact mirrors are some examples. You will see the striking zebra grain of Maccassar Ebony on my business card cases, and Morrocco’s Thuya burl in my turned pens. The Koa groomsmen’s gifts remind me of Hawaiian weddings. I even engrave the Honu turtle in it for good luck! Traveling around the world has made me very conscious of how we should treasure nature’s organic gifts. Because of this I maximize the materials I use and source sustainable woods for my work. When you choose one of these pieces you are getting something truly one of a kind, since Nature has crafted it herself. I can personalize the piece with the name of the recipient for that added special touch.
