Brady Steps Charitable Foundation
Brady Steps is a charitable foundation created to help raise awareness about spina bifida. Our son, Brady, was born with spina bifida on January 25, 2011.
Spina bifida is a birth defect in which the spinal cord does not close before birth. The defect is repaired through surgery and even though it can be repaired, there is still damage left to the nerves that were exposed. The majority of children born with myelomeningocele, the type of spina bifida that Brady has, have problems with bowel and bladder control, weakness or paralysis in the legs, and h

The Brady Steps 5K had a beautiful day! A huge thank you to by brother Ian for running the show so we could to go to Rileyโs sectional finals game. Thank you to Kit Henshaw, Holly Moore, Tiffany Carroll, Jody and Linda Eddins, Jane Wilhelm and Nancy Rigney for helping so much! It was a great day! We will post more pictures and results later.

October is Spina Bifida Awareness Month. Tomorrow, we will head to Cincinnati for three days for several rounds of GI testing. Please whisper a prayer for us! Many people donโt realize how much Brady deals with and he does it all with a smile on his face. We are so proud he is ours ๐

The Brady Steps 3 on 3 is August 19th. We are still taking teams if anyone is interested! Please let us know ASAP. The team fee is $150 and you must be at least 16 to play. We have to move the location to St. Joseph Catholic High School due to issues with the court where we normally play. Itโs a fun day with great competition!

We have been kind of absent on Facebook recently and we apologize for that. We wanted to give you an update on the foundation and Brady. We just recently donated to the Mountaineer Spina Bifida Camp and several months ago, we donated to the new Children's Museum. We have also reached out to our local Spina Bifida coalition to see if anyone is in need of financial assistance. Brady is doing well. He will be in 7th grade this year. On the urological side of things, he is doing well and his kidneys look good. He is getting new braces for his legs on Monday. He has been having some GI issues and we will go to Cincinnati in October for three days to have some tests done to figure out what exactly is going on. As always, he has a great attitude and just keeps smiling. We will keep you all posted as we move forward. Our 3 on 3 basketball tournament is August 19th. If you are interested in putting in a team or sponsoring the event, please let us know soon. You must be 16 or older to play. We are grateful to all of you for your support over the years. Catholic Central alum Nolan Ziegler creates project to send signed jerseys to kids with disabilities Ziegler has already brought good into the world in a big way in just one year in South Bend.
If you are coming to the 5K it may be easier to enter at the soccer fields. Main Street is closed and itโs harder to get to the park entrance.
If you still want to the 5K you can register on site for $30. It will begin at 2:00 at Barboursville Park at the shelter by the lake. Thanks!
