Midwest Power Gym is a strength performance gym that was created to provide competition/elite performance equipment and a positive atmosphere for strength athletes and individuals looking to achieve greater strength in the Milwaukee area.
Midwest Power is not a private club and all serious lifters of all experience levels with strength goals are welcome!

Cooper Wage is the owner and founder of Midwest Power Gym. Cooper has been powerlifting for over 20 years and is a national champion, 2x world record holder, Team USA member and has enjoyed time giving back to the powerlifting community assisting with meets and coaching a high school powerlifting team. When Cooper moved to Milwaukee, there were no options for powerlifters within an hour radius of the city. Passionate about providing the right atmosphere and equipment for the Milwaukee powerlifting community, he founded Midwest Power Gym in February of 2018.

Every Body Pulls is benefiting Black Space this year, and they are hosting their next set of group sessions next Saturday, 5/22!!! Read on to learn more, or head to BlackSpaceHQ.com to register!

“We build 90-minute long facilitated groups that heal individuals and build a sense of community. The sessions can be emotional, insightful, and healing. They’re FREE! Because we’re passionate about making support affordable. They’re safe and confidential. We provide safe spaces for mxn, womxn, and LGBTQIA+ communities. They’re for us by us. Our sessions are facilitated by Black and Brown therapists.
These sessions will start promptly at their scheduled times, so please arrive 10mins prior. Each participant will receive a small plant donated by Maranta Plant Shop.”

April 14th (4/14) is MKE Day! Let’s look at an important MKE mental health resource: the county Crisis Line.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, you can reach a 24-hour crisis center by calling (414) 257-7222 in the MKE area, or 1-800-273-TALK nationally. Milwaukee County. has a mobile team they can send to you, or you can visit any of the crisis help locations on the Milwaukee County BHD webpage.

More options beyond MKE: call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call a national crisis line. They operate 24/7, and trained crisis workers will listen to you and direct you to the resources you need.

National Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text MHA to 741741

SAMHSA’s National Helpline for mental health & substance abuse: Call or text 1-800-662-HELP (4357)

The TrevorLine for LGBTQ+ people: Call 1-866-488-7386 or text START to 678-678

The Trans Lifeline, staffed by trans people, for trans people: Call 1-877-565-8860

Crisis lines help reduce the need for emergency personnel, including police officers. People with untreated mental illnesses are 16 times more likely to be shot and killed by police, and combined with the general police violence disparity Black Americans face, the likelihood of “officer-involved death” when responding to a Black mental health crisis is absolutely staggering.

Many studies have validated what is already obvious to so many Black people: witnessing police violence is traumatic. Watching these repeated events of unjustified violence, with absolutely no change being made, contributes to the mental health struggles of individuals and communities. One medical publication very directly states, “Police killings of unarmed black Americans have significant effects on the mental health of other black Americans in the general population. Interventions are needed to reduce the prevalence of these killings and to support the mental health of communities affected when they do occur.”
