We’re a sentimental bunch over here at Filament Co. The first picture is from October 2020 (our George was 23 months old) when a big windstorm pushed over our favorite tree. The pecan tree had been growing on the property for as long as the house has been here (built in 1928). We were sad to wake up to this giant toppled over. ⁣

As a sentimental woodworker one of my first thoughts was preserving as much of the tree as possible to make into usable lumber. Picture two is from September 2022 (our Henry is now 23 months old). This is the realization of my desire to preserve the tree. Rodney from brought his sawmill over and helped turn the logs from the main trunk into slabs. ⁣
⁣
My dream is to turn one of these slabs into an heirloom table that will live in the house for years to come.

We adore our small 1928 craftsman home but find that we just don't have enough kitchen storage/counter space. How do you keep your space functional and feeling spacious?

We're excited to share these handmade maple shelves with you! They've made a huge difference in how we feel in our small kitchen. We love that this wall space became functional and helps keep our most used breakfast ingredients and snacks off the counters.

What a beautifully, funky colored piece of white oak! One of our favorite parts of woodworking is seeing the beautiful colors & patterns emerge as we get closer to the finished piece. This white oak sure didn’t disappoint.

Little man’s pure excitement is just the best.

It’s been a joy to watch him learn and grow with me in the shop. He designed and made this beautiful serving board himself!

He’s a rising entrepreneur for sure. His goal is to sell the board for 125 quarters, so he can buy him and his little brother a robot build kit.

Revisiting & updating one of our older shapes for a large holiday order. I never would have thought that the grain & color in this piece of rough sawn maple would turn out this amazing.
