Restored Church Bell returned
A huge THANK YOU to the Ohio Valley CTC Welding Technology Program, led by instructor Brent Harper, for their contributions to our bell restoration project.
Students Carter Conn, Dakota Stone, Cole Manning, Tyler Steif and Ethan Cantrell completed the restoration by cleaning/grinding the bell, polyurethaning the bell, painting the hardware, and restoring the wooden runners.
Special recognition to Carter Conn who designed, fabricated and welded the metal brackets that were used during installation. Fitting these brackets to the original wooden runners at the base of the bell allowed for the wood to be elevated off the concrete base of the display. This will help preserve the wooden elements of the display for years to come.
The bell didn't make it "home" without the setup and installation work of students Jaiden Parker and Chaz Walker (from the Agriculture Mechanics Program) along with Ryan Scott, Cole Atkins, and Aaron Williams (from the Welding Technology Program.
Again, a big THANK YOU to everyone that helped make this happen.

The Decatur Community Church Quilters' tradition runs deep. Several of the quilters work at home on their projects and then meet to work together in the church basement from 9:00 to noon on the last Saturday of each month. Anyone interested in helping or learning more about their quilting projects is welcome to attend.
