There is nothing more magical than having a dedicated reading spot to
cozy up with a good book.

Double points if your kids can't easily find you here! I joke. I joke....maybe.

What is your favorite book you read this past year? I have not stopped thinking about by It was phenomenal, and I don't say this lightly!! It may be my favorite book ever 🥹 There's actually a whole TikTok rabbit hole you can fall into where people really nerd out on the details-perfect for a gal like me! 🤣

Is your design timeless? I often hear from clients, that are making major design decisions, that they want their design to be "timeless" and not feel "too trendy"

I completely understand where they're coming from: you don't want something you are going to easily get tired of, but I do feel like this entire notion is defeating.

Nothing in the design world is timeless.

Not your neutral subway tile, not your beige toned cabinets, not your roll arm sofa. It could feel like this, because it's been around before, but it was also "out" before too and will most likely be "out" in 5-10 years as things slowly shifts.

Don't we all remember when a white kitchen was "timeless" ?

Don't design for the notion of this everlasting choice.
Don't design for what your future self may or may not like.
Definitely do not design for what a potential future buyer of your home may or may not like.

Design for what you love right now. Look back things you have coveted for years: furniture, a favorite coat or purse. Are they bright? Muted? Classic silhouette? Lean into what has always served you.

6 years ago, this room was a risk. It's a big statement. People eye's widened when I shared I was actually wallpapering my daughter's nursery. But you now what? I love this nursery. I loved it then. I love it now. And I will probably always love it: floral print, muted tons, pops of color.

I will love it because it brings me back to that initial feeling of being completely in love with what I wanted and not worrying about an audience or an unknown future.

Who has been here since the beginning? 🙋🏽‍♀️ I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 years since I mustered up the courage to have a real live photographer come to our home and photograph some spaces I had designed. I was SO uncertain, uncomfortable and kept thinking “Who am I to do this??” In my head, I kept wondering if Lauren thought I was completely crazy to try to photograph these spaces for a design business. I wanted to say….“Are they any good?! PLEASE, TELL ME I’M NOT CRAZY!”

It’s amazing how the journey gives you exactly what you need, when you need it. I, like most, wanted instant success. But it’s been years of baby steps. Filing for a business license, getting my first paying client, selling my first design package, my first feature in a media outlet, etc. etc. Each step has taught me so much about myself, designing an amazing space and the beauty of the process.

I’m starting to ramble, but I should just wrap it up and say….if there’s a dream on your heart, just go for it. If I can do it, so can you.

Today I decided to repost one of our most saved posts ever. It is so tricky to pick out the right paint color for your space. These are tried and true and give you a great starting point.

Here’s a 🔥 Tip: I always suggest getting samples to see on your walls, at different times of the day. One of my favorite things to do for clients, is to order our top colors from . You get a big ol’ sticky note that has real paint on it. So much easier than paint samples. But if you do decide to get cans of paint samples (locally) colorize in Clifton Park offers FREE samples on Fridays!
