The Jim Henson Company, 2021 Puppeteer Training Initiative - A Three-Week Inclusive Workshop

The Jim Henson Company, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking top talent and new creative voices from diverse communities and backgrounds to train as puppeteers in the Jim Henson technique. This workshop will be led by top performers, with a mission to cultivate and nurture multicultural talent and diverse perspectives. An invitation to participate in this workshop is by audition only.

CURRENTLY SEEKING:
• Members of the LGBTQ+ community
• People of Color
• Women of all cultural backgrounds

SUBMISSIONS:
Qualified applicants should submit their picture and resume to [email protected] no later than Friday, May 21st to be considered for an audition. Include a link to stream a short sample of your puppetry and/or comedic work.

FOR THOSE INVITED TO AUDITION
10-Minute audition times will be assigned on the following days: Monday May 17th through Friday May 21st
Monday May 24th, or Tuesday May 25th
All auditions will be conducted via Zoom.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Participants should be puppeteers and/or comedic performers (improv and/or dance experience is a plus).
• Puppeteering height range is 5’4” to 6’3”
• After the audition, those who are invited to attend the workshop must be available five days a week (M-F 9am – 5pm) for 3 weeks from July 12th – July 30th
• Eligible participants may apply for possible travel stipend consideration.

Please note there is no cost to participate in the training workshop and/or audition process. Participants will not be compensated for this workshop nor is there a promise of employment after the workshop. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination will be required for all in-person attendees.
