Creating custom lures to catch big fish. Creating custom lures to catch big smallmouth. Specializing in lures for both river and lake smallmouth.
I also guide for smallmouth, musky and walleye on the Susquehanna and Juaniata Rivers in Pennsylvania
I had Howie out for a smallie spinnerbait slug fest. STC Thin Wire Spinnerbaits in Chartreuse Death Snag was the lure all day. Howie even had a musky on before it jumped and threw the bait. Howie helps me at the Great American Outddor Show in Feb.
I had Paul and MaryLou out for a high water early Spring day of smallie fishing. STC River Cattie, Medusa, Lil Crawdaddies and Tender Teaser Tubes were the lures.
I am ready for cooler weather, this heat wave is horrible. I am back on working on the website with this heat.
Shane and Evan's second day. STC Stone Cats, Crawdaddies, Stand-up Teaser Rubes and Tender Tubes all caught fish the whole weekend. We got into some STC spinnerbait and chatters later on in the days.
Happy Independence Day. The day is to reflect on being a citizen of the United States of America. This is what I identify as, first and foremost. I can not express my gratitude to those who founded our country, those who kept our country safe, those who inspired innovation in our country, those in a supporting role to our country's people and those who will continue this path that made us the greatest nation in the world, past present and future.
I had Shane and his son Evan out during a spring high water event. Some of the heaviest current I ever fished. When you run a Minn Kota 112 at 100% and are still being drug down the river at a quick pace, that is some wicked current. We had to position on the current seem and fish next to the boat, which produced over 50 fish.
This was our 2nd annual STC fishing weekend for my closest friends who have been so supportive over the years. I'm looking forward to our next get together.
First time clients Alan and his daughter Veronica joined me for some Spring smallie fishing. Alan's wife was ill, so he did a father/daughter fishing day instead, and they had a great time. Veronica was a novice angler at the start, but after some coaching, she caught a bunch of bronzebacks. I really enjoy teaching someone the thrills of river fishing. STC Crawdaddies and Medusa on STC Ned Heads were the lures for that cold, high water.
I had Doug out for an early April day slamming Susquehanna smallies. We killed them on STC Crawdaddies, Tender Teaser Tubes, Medusa, and River Catties. We had super high water a couple of days before when he was supposed to go, and we were able to change to this day after the water crested. Doug has been river smallie fishing for years, and we shared stories about the rivers we have fished.
I had new clients Ken and Ross out for some early Spring smallie fishing. STC Crawdaddies and Medusa on a STC Ned Head were the ticket for some cold water smallies.
We had an awesome spring on the Susquehanna this year. Third season full time, and I was fully booked for what I could keep up on. We had 28 fish over 20 inches. STC lures caught the majority of them. I will post all the trips from spring over summer since I am not much on social media. I truly enjoyed taking clients out to experience this top quality fishery. We fished out of 10 different ramps on over 150 miles of river.
My Columbia Outdoor Gear was perfect for all the different weather we have in PA during spring. With temps from 20's to over 90 degrees, rain, snow, sun, sleet, and hateful wind, Columbia has gear for all of it.
I want to thank Lakeside Marine (Ryan, JC, and Barb) in Harrisburg for keeping us on the water. Mechanical things break when you use them hard, so having a dependable marine mechanic is a must. They took care of getting those things fixed. Use them for your boat repairs, Ryan is very knowledgeable and helpful. Go see JC for a new or used jet boat if you are ready for one.
I also want to thank my partnering guides, Mike Breeding, Roger Willingham, Scott Johnson, Ken Trail and Brandon Sandy, and good friends Mike Payne, Howie Range, Shane Shanower, Jim Shaffer, Guy Foscone and Mickey Pfortsch for helping STC grow. Can't do this without these guys.
Thanks to my returning clients, some have been fishing with me since I started guiding 13 years ago.
Finally, thanks to my wife Christine for supporting me in this later life career change.
I am looking forward to more days on the water this year with returning and new clients and my good friends.
I got out to fish with Roger at the end of last week. We had a good day with STC Micro Jigs and Ned Heads with STC Medusa, River Catties, Lil Crawdaddies, and Stand-up Teaser Tubes all catching fish.
I had Len out for a cold but great day on the water. We put fish in the boat with STC Stand-up Teaser Tubes in Dirty Susquie GP and Copper Rose Pumpkin and STC Lil Crawdaddies in Copper Rose and Dirty GP Gold. All fished on a STC Sickle Hook Ned Heads.
I love my Columbia Outdoor Gear. After getting 12 years out of my previous Columbia cold weather gear, I got new stuff last year, and it is awesome. Durable, water tight and warm, the three things that set Columbia above other brands. I recommend it and anyone who knows me, my recommendation is not given out to companies who just give me free stuff. It is based on years of use and sometimes abuse.
Only got out once last week between the wind and getting caught up on orders. Warmer water last Sunday, and we were able to get on a spinnerbait bite in the wind. Wind was brutal. Chartreuse Death Snag is the cold water spinnerbait killer. Slow rolling it off structure.
I had Mickey and Watson out for a smallie smack down Friday Great numbers and size, fish are moving and we're hungry after a couple days of dirty high water. STC Micro Jigs with STC Medusa, STC Tender Teaser Tubes, STC River Catties, and STC Stand up Teaser Tubes all were productive. Even a 19 on a spinnerbait.
Looks like a windy week, but next week looks mild again. I have April 24 and May 6 opened up due to rescheduled trips for people. Contact me if you are interested in booking a trip during the best time of the year on the Susquie at 717-368-3802.
I did some things on the boat in the morning and got out for a couple hours in the evening with Bailey. Bite was good with the STC Medusa on a STC EWG Micro Jig. Copper Rose Pumpkin. Black Red Neon and Dirty Susquie Green Pumpkin were the colors. Back out today.
Got out solo yesterday for a few hours. The bite was very good and even got a 20 1/4. Fished the STC EWG Micro Jig in Copper Rose paired with a STC'S Medusa in copper rose pumpkin, Susquie green pumpkin and a new color, Dirty Copper Craw.
End of next week looks like the days to fish. Let me know if you are ready to get out of the house on a last-minute trip. Contact me if you can make it work, 717-368-3802.
Looking for a great cold water jig for ned baits, STC has them. 5 styles include:
EWG Micro Jigs with an extra wide gap hook for weedless presentation and a little more skirting for larger ned baits like the Medusa, Lil Crawdaddies, Standup Teaser Tube, or Flanders.
Sickle Micro Jigs with a sickle hook in both weedless with a single wire weedgaurd or non weedless, thinner skirting for smaller ned baits like River Flappers, Leggy Nymphs, Hellgies or River Catties
Micro Jigs with a black nickel round bend hook in both weedless or non weedless for same baits as sickle.
Order them on Www.snaglertackle.com and check out the new website, I am still a work in progress but getting there.
Mike and I got out for some early spring smallie fishing. STC EWG Micro Jigs with the STC Medusa in dark green pumpkin colors caught a bunch. STC Tender Smallie Tubes, STC Standup Teaser Tubes, and STC Crawdaddies stuck a few also. I am doing last-minute bookings for March with nice weather, good bite, and April/May nearly fully booked (only April 2 and 3 open).
Got out once last week for a tougher day of fishing. Looks like Monday, Tuesday, or Friday are going to be good days to fish. Warm March weather and a rise should make the fish bite. Contact me if you want to fish one of these days this week. 717-368-3802.

Mike and I got out for some winter smallie fishing. Tougher day but managed some nice ones. STC Micro Jigs with STC River Flapper or Stone Catties as trailers worked the best. Couple on STC Standup Tubes and Tender Teaser Tubes in Susquie Green Pumpkin. My new Columbia cold weather gear is awesome. I switched from bibs to pants this year, and my back is not bothering me like with the bibs. I think suspenders pull on your back and can make it ache.
Weather is looking really fishable, so anyone who wants to book an early season trip in March, get in touch with me at 717-368-3802, or message me. Next weekend, I will be putting out on Saturdays the days I am recommending to fish the week coming up for last-minute guide trips. I am still catching up on orders this week. I only have two dates left in April/May, April 2 and 3.
Well, I am done with shows this year, too busy with online orders, and I think we will be able to fish the rest of the winter. Want to thank Mike for getting Shane and myself out for a winter smallie smackdown. STC Micro Jigs with STC plastics on the back caught most of our fish.
I want to thank Brandon Sandy, Mike Payne, Ken Trail, Scott Johnson, Mickey Pfortsch, and Howie Range, who helped me during show season. Can't do this without them. Enjoyed spending time with the show friends, this group makes it fun and knowing we are there for each other, and I hope they all have great end of year shows. Thanks to GAOS for their partnership and having me as a speaker again this year.
If you want to do some cold water fishing on the nicer days this Feb and March, let me or Mike know. I only have a couple of dates left in April and May, but I have a couple of return calls to make. I will post any dates left once I get back to the callers.
We went bank fishing after dropping my stuff off at the Great American Outdoor Show and ran into this gold beauty at the boat ramp. Cold water smallies are absolutely fun to catch. When the water temps are in the 30's, the key is find where the fish are and let your lure percolate for a long time, giving it slight shakes. This fish ate the new STC EWG Ned Micro Jig in Copper Rose Pumpkin with a Redbug head armed with a STC Standup Teaser Tube in Copper Rose Pumpkin. I still have just a couple days left on my Spring guide schedule.

I just got back from Knoxville and getting ready for the largest outdoor show in the country. The Great American Outdoor Show is running from February 3 -11 at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA. I will post my seminar schedule later this week.
STC is running a Great American Outdoor Show Special on my handcrafted spinnerbaits and river smallie designed soft plastics. This is the only show I can do these deals, so make your way to this show.
All set up for the East Tennessee Fishing Show in Knoxville. Scott Johnson is helping me this weekend. New show for me since Boston moved their dates and freed me up this weekend. Looking forward to talking about river smallies with the TN angling community. I can learn about what works here and hopefully the attendees can learn some new techniques we use on the Susquie and buy the lures that produce for us.
I will be at Great American Outdoor Show Feb 3-11. I will post my seminars schedule next week for GAOS.
First day of Richmond Fishing Expo and we had a great day. Thanks to those who came out to support us. We will be here for two more days. Ken Trail and Mike Payne will be with me in the booth. Hope to see many more of STC's supporters. We have a number of new lures including ned micro jigs, Vibrating Booster spinnerbaits, Leggy nymphs and Shamoo hair jigs. Co e out and see us. Booking trips with me on the Susquie and Ken on the New and James River.
All set up for Marysville show. Cone out and see us and get some discount STC lures and new micro jigs, stone catties and Lil Crawdaddies plus spinnerbaits and other STC lures. 8 to 3 today and 8 to 2 tomorrow.
Happy New Year. Got out with Brandon on New Year's day and we stuck some nice first fish of 24. The new STC EWG Micro Jig paired with a STC Standup Teaser Tube was the hot bait with a couple on STC Slender Ribbed Swimbait, STC Flanders and STC Tender Teaser Tubes.
I have made a bunch of micro jigs this year, I had two weeks that was all I could do due to an injured arm earlier in December. Come out this weekend to the Marysville, PA show and get you some. My Guide testers have been testing these all late Fall and into Winter. I don't put any lure out without testing thanks to my sponsored guides and buddies. I am looking forward to seeing people this weekend and get out of my workshop for a couple of days.

Merry late Christmas and early Happy New Year. I have been working non-stop the last month on making lures for the 2024 show season.
Some of the new products include the STC Micro Jig, made with STC Ned Head Sickle, Round Bend, or Wide Gap hooks. Might even have some new sickle or round bend single wire weedgaurd Ned Heads. These Micro Jigs can be paired with any of the STC standup soft plastics: Flanders, River Flappers, Hellgies, Lil Crawdaddies or Leggy Nymph.
Also added the new salty River Catties, Medusa Ned and Leggy Nymph to the STC product catalog.

Looking forward to getting out of my workshop and talking about river smallie fishing with other anglers.
Jim's third day on the river and he slammed some nice fish on the STC Cole Slaw Bass Drum Spinnerbait. Some other fish were caught on STC Teaser Tubes and a new STC lure in product testing, The Medusa.
I had Chris and Jared out last summer on a rescheduled trip. Low water and tough fishing when they had planned to go in June, so we held off for when conditions improved and it was a good call. We had a good rise in August so I called them and we were able to make it work. Over 70 fish on STC Spinnerbaits, Thin Wire in Chartreuse Death Snag and River Thump in Chartreuse Snag with some on crankbaits.
The moral of the story, rises on the river can get the fish to bite. The best time is usually the initial 1/3 of the rise and once the crest goes by and the water starts to clean up. All this has variables but is pretty consistent. I will talk about all this at my seminars at the Great American Outdoor Show in Feb.
