Anyone else find this as sacred as I do?

AMDG. It stands for ad majoreum de glorium. It means all for the glory of God. God gives us purpose and without God, we live just to one day cease to exist. But God created each one of us with a purpose, and we should use our passions and talents to glorify God. That’s what AMDG means to me.

👋 I’m Catherine, the face behind Siena and Co.

My first tattoo was the letters AMDG, which stands for a Latin phrase that means “for the greater glory of God”, which I’ve adopted as my life motto, especially with all my work here with Siena and Co. Sometimes people can wonder how designing and making clothes can have any meaningful purpose in this life, but the idea has always come so naturally to me.

I can give glory to God by serving His people, specifically His daughters: designing clothes they can feel beautiful and confident in, so they can show up as their best selves to those around them. And providing dignifying work to the several people and hands who I get to work with to make this dream of beautiful swimsuits a reality.

So when my dear friend and hype woman and .living.person shared their new shirt design with me, it felt ridiculously close to home: AMDG, fair trade, in a sick SoCal surfer tee vibe 🙋‍♀️ Plus, oversized tees make the best swim coverups, amirite?

What an honor and privilege to talk to 150 new Jesuit Volunteers who will bring their gifts and talents to communities all around the U.S.

Twelve years ago I was sitting right there in those seats. 🤯 Scared, anxious, and missing my home and community with an intensity that I didn’t even know was possible. My speakers had a profound impact on me and I couldn’t believe I got the opportunity to share some thoughts with them. Thank you Katie Dorner for such an amazing opportunity!!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been involved with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps but wow, it feels good to be back. Looking forward to giving back to an organization that totally transformed me and opened up my world view in ways I never imagined.

Meet Sathyapriya 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Growing up, Sathyapriya was very close to her father. When he fell ill, she left school to help take care of him while her mother worked. She says that some of her best early childhood memories are with her father. Her father recovered, and today one of her goals is to earn enough money to continue to take care of her parents, and she continues to be very close with her family.

Meet Lakot Nighty 🙏🏽

Due to her father’s untimely abduction and death in the war, Nighty was raised primarily by her cousin. She was forced into hard labor, much of which was difficult for such a young woman and was never able to attend school. Whereas before Nighty was only able to work for a single day’s bread, the secure income that KNOWN SUPPLY provides allows for her to save her money and plan her activities. This will allow her to provide an enjoyable childhood for her children, which she was never able to have herself.

Meet Auma Beatrice 🙏🏽🙏🏽

After the death of her parents, Beatrice was left under the care of her eldest sister where life was hard, food was scarce, and fear was prevalent in her life due to the unknown whereabouts of the rebel army. Since being enrolled in the KK Uganda program, she not only has a reliable source of income that can support her husband and children with food, medical care, and clothing, but she also has a support system that enables her to forget about her worries.

DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE
“My future plan is to ensure that I work hard and that my children study and get educated to the highest level. I also want to save as much money as possible so that I will be able to buy a plot of land and later build a house for my children.”

Nurhassan works hard everyday in hopes that he can one day own his own business. His dream for his future is to run said business with his children. When not at work, Nurhassan enjoys spending time in the outdoors.
