Herbert was a long time employee here at Harmony Grove. He started pouring concrete during the construction and upon completion, he came to work with us. He worked almost 18 years before retiring last summer. He will be missed and we extend our sympathy to his family.

Today, we were asked to attend the Waynesboro Primary School Career Day for the 2nd grade. The whole family pitched in to help make it happen. I would like to thank Hadley for the presentation board and all the beautiful pictures and Daniel and Sarah Beth for helping at the school. The absolute highlight was watching the kids interact with Valerie, the Jersey cow, and her baby, Vivienne. They loved the attention, but the first thing Valerie did upon returning to the dairy was go lay down. Those kids wore us all out!

September 28, 2005. The first load of milk shipped out of our current facility. Happy 17th Anniversary! Lots of gallons of high quality milk have left since then to supply our local area. Milk that parents feel safe giving their families.
P.S. If you see us about, make sure you tell us we haven't changed a bit since then!

Many people have asked what we plan to do for bedding for the babies this winter. Here is the answer, corn stalks. We harvested this field of corn last week and it was baled yesterday and today. It yielded 521 bales, almost 3 bales per acre.
Not as pretty as wheat straw, but will work! The Lord will provide!

Even storms are beautiful. Thankful for rain.

God promised that the rainbow, after the storm, was given as an everlasting promise between Him and man. We've had a "storm" here today. So now the "rainbow".... Another reminder of the sufficiency of God's grace.
After seeing our Facebook post earlier, our friends, and local farmer, showed up with straw. Unasked for, but much appreciated. Thank you to the Prescott family for not only your thoughts and prayers, but you taking action.
The babies are already enjoying the beautiful golden straw.

Some days don't go as you plan. Today was one of those. We had our straw barn catch on fire this morning. We unfortunately lost the next 12 months worth of baby calf bedding and dry cow straw, in addition to the building literally melting.
Thankful for Burke County Fire Department on scene to prevent it from spreading. Also the loyal Harmony Grove employees that speedily moved equipment out of the building next door to prevent even further loss. They faced extreme heat and used lots of ingenuity to drag and pull the equipment to safety.
Tomorrow will be a new day and the grace of God is sufficient for even this.

Corn harvest 2022 has begun here in Georgia. What makes this one different is the next generation working together this year. Jiles, 17, running the silage chopper. One of the most important and responsible positions on the team. Then his cousin Daniel, 12, working in the tractor packing silage on his first harvest. It makes their parents and grandparents very proud. Way to go Coble grandkids!!

She went by many names; Lana, Mom, Grandma, Abuela, friend, cousin, sister but no matter what you knew her as, one of the best has gone home to glory and her savior Jesus Christ. The matriarch of Harmony Grove Dairy loved cows, but she loved people even more. Many can say they were recipients of birthday cakes and her cards. She was thoughtful, kind, and above all shone the love of Jesus on each person she came into contact with. We will press on to the future with hope, even through these grief filled days. She has won the victory and now has heard the words, “The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ Matthew 25:23

The Coble family would love for you to join us in celebrating the life of Lana Coble.

Barn renovations have started on one of the original barns at Harmony Grove Dairy. We are upgrading the ventilation fans to these new 72" Seneca Dairy Systems direct drive. When finished this should drastically improve the air flow and cow comfort in this barn. Thanks to all the guys working hard to remove the old and install the new.

Burke County 4-H Dairy Judging team came to the farm today as their final practice before the state competition on Friday. It's wonderful to see 10 kids interested enough in dairy cows, to give up their Spring Break afternoon. We wish you all success!

Did you know that the manure from 2.6 dairy cows could power your home for an entire year? It's happening all over the U.S. right now! Dairies are utilizing technology like methane digesters from BRIGHTMARK to turn livestock manure into renewable natural gas. ⛽️

It's a simple process really, the manure is collected and stored into these digesters where it breaks down, producing methane in the process. The methane is harvested, converted to renewable natural gas and then pumped into a pipeline for distribution!

We have enough dairy cows 🐄 in the U.S. to power 3.6 million homes every year! Thats 2.5% of all homes in the United States that could be powered by cows! 🐄⚡️🏡💡

Have you ever wondered why there might be donkeys in a field full of cows? While they are definitely a source of entertainment, they have a functional purpose also. Donkeys protect the cows from wild dogs and function as their guardians. Here a baby donkey is standing with her mother, while watching over the heifers graze.

We have had such a mild winter so far, that the ryegrass is growing very fast. The heifers are really enjoying grazing!

It's officially winter even if it doesn't feel like it in Georgia yet. The cows are feeling comfortable!

dairy cows prefer 25-65°F temps? In the cows grow longer, thicker coats & pack on the pounds for insulation. If it's too wet/cold, cows prefer to stay in dry barns, where they have plenty of space to relax, socialize, eat & drink.
