Nothing more exciting than having these giant parasols come up every year on my property. For more than 20 years, these parasols have sprouted - and meandered - from a single inoculation into an ant mound. See Mycelium Running for more information: ants cultivate the mycelium of these mushrooms as part of their host defense against pathogens!
Lessons learned!
The working list on my fridge for news years resolution
Rain or shine, the City of Carpinteria is preparing to hold its Holiday Spirit Parade on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. in downtown Carpinteria. Since forecasts call for possible afternoon showers, the City advises parade participants and spectators to prepare for wet weather by wearing warm clothes and bringing umbrellas.
“We hope that the rain will hold off until Saturday night, as forecast,” said City Program Manager Olivia Uribe-Mutal. “But since we are in a stage 3 drought right now, we welcome precipitation anytime, even if that means it ‘rains on our parade.’”
This year’s parade will take place on Linden Avenue between Carpinteria Avenue and Sixth Street. Following the parade, Hospice of Santa Barbara is scheduled to hold its 39th annual Light Up a Life at 5:30 p.m. at the Seal Fountain, 850 Linden Ave.

Our Story
I am a conscious, organic gardener with multiple years of organic gardening, 100% organically. "100% Organic" means I never use harsh pesticides, fungicides, herbicides (glyphosate based w**d killer) and pesticides on your property. I also compost 95% of green waste that I prune while gardening (that usually ends up in the dump). Two months later of maintaining your compost pile, I use the amazing compost to feed your trees, plants and veggies. I work with soil and enhance the soil biology with compost tea which puts life back into your soil. Also, I love to build healthy soil for my clients. If your soil is healthy then your plants will be healthy. I love to help clients grow and maintain their veggie gardens. I love fruit trees and have experience with citrus, avocado, apple, peach, banana, plums, pomegranate, jujube, and pears. I love and grow blueberries, grapes and raspberry bushes. I love edible landscapes and will maintain your landscape organically (including roses). I love to help clients install and maintain butterfly gardens, humming bird gardens, pollinator gardens and water gardens (rain water harvesting). I also love to help clients rejuvenate plants that are not healthy anymore. I do this through a process of remediation of the soil. With knowledge of soil science, horticulture, plant identification and irrigation, I can bring 99% of most plants back to life. I also love helping clients save money on their water bill by diagnosing sprinkler leaks, repairing them and adding drip irrigation (most efficient watering system). I like to build rain water harvesting gardens, rain water systems, and rain gardens. These usually go really well with the butterfly and hummingbird garden. I hire Certified Green Gardeners and Horticulture students and plant enthusiasts. I pay them a living wage, pay taxes and hire everyone above board. I like to educate my guys and encourage them to make suggestions in the garden. And again, I love to rejuvenate plants and bring them from dying, to vibrant healthy and organic. I love working with plants, soil and nature! Its what I was born to do. Happy Organic Gardening! Dave
