Limousin & LimFlex Cattle
Not a good photo. I’ll try for an amazing one in a day or two. This is COLE Jurassic 01J. He has the most amazing EPD’s. Every EPD is well above average. He was fertility tested again today and about to go out with the cows at what we refer to as 8990. The cows just were not near when we got back, so he has to spend the night in the pen.
Summer is here! Beat the heat with a fun party to include an inflatable moon bounce with waterslide! We’ll have tables set up for your event, the waterslide ready to go, all you have to do is show up ready to celebrate! $850 for a 4 hour rental!

Tucker is looking for a new address. He is homozygous black, polled, 26 months old. He is ready for work. PM me if you would like more details.
Time to brag a little about our herd bull COLE Jurassic 01J.
Check out his ranking in every trait measured by EPD’s. I bet there are not many others with this distinction.
His first calves are now approaching 1 year old. They are super nice. We have a fall crop as well that are looking really good. We couldn’t be more pleased.
This calf is in danger. If she eats this she could block her air way, or she could not be able to pass it through her system. Either way she dies. The field she is in is full of plastic bags. Please, please be careful with your plastic grocery bags. They go to recycling or in the trash, not flying out of the bed of your truck or your window or trash can. PLEASE Pick them up if they get away from you.

I applaud these senators and representatives for introducing this bill. We used to have L & H in San Antonio. Waco had H & B. Neither of these facilities exist anymore. For us, we take our old cows all the way to San Angelo to Lone Star Processing. That is quite a haul from San Antonio and I am certain quite uncomfortable for the older cows. I am a person that has a lot of compassion for my cow herd, so instead of the poking, prodding and crowding the old girls would be subject to at the sale barn, I prefer a much more gentle method of just hauling them myself where I can make them as comfortable as possible for their last few hours. I would love for one of these rendering plants to pop up closer than San Angelo.
Bill seeks to support small U.S. meat processors, rendering facilities Bill is first of its kind that acknowledges the critical role of rendering.

COMPOSITE BREEDS LIKE
LIM-FLEX PROVIDE HYBRID VIGOR IN A STRAIGHTBRED SYSTEM
By Burt Rutherford
What’s the big deal with these composite bulls, anyway? And why should I use them in my cow herd?
Those are two very valid questions, says Dr. Bob Weaber, a geneticist and head of Kansas State University’s Eastern Kansas Research and Extension Centers. For the answers, he says to look at the female side of the equation.
Why? Because that’s where composite bulls help commercial cow-calf producers realize the benefits of heterosis without the headaches of a more complex crossbreeding program. “Heterosis is just the little extra boost in performance we get above the average of the straightbred parents’ expected performance,” he says. “It’s the little icing on the cake, if you will.”
That icing may be more than just a little. “We get our biggest boost in performance due to heterosis in lowly heritable traits like cow longevity and fertility,” he says. And given today’s cost in developing replacement heifers, cow longevity is more important now than ever before.
Indeed, cow longevity and fertility are two of the most important economic traits in a commercial cow herd. Without question. That’s because you can’t sell a calf that’s never born. And the longer a cow stays in the herd, the more her calves return economic value to the rancher.
Typical crossbreeding programs, however, can be complicated and difficult to implement, especially if you want to realize genetic improvement by retaining heifers. That’s why Weaber thinks incorporating composite genetics like Lim-Flex into a breeding program is a good fit. LimFlex composites can have 25%- 75% Limousin genetics with the remainder being Registered Angus or Registered Red Angus.
“It’s very easy to implement and they (the bulls) come with the crossbreeding system already built in,” he says. “The commercial producer doesn’t have to do anything extra in terms of breeding pastures or identifying replacement heifers by breed of their sire. It’s as simple as straight breeding.”

Here is a preview of the up and coming bull calves at Brehm Farms. This is a picture of a group 13-16 month old bulls. In addition to these we have 15 bulls 17 months to 2 years that are ready for service. They have been fertility tested and given viral, vibrio/Lepto, black leg and Dectomex injections.
This bull calf will be 5 months old soon, he is available. He is a commercial bull. If you like to grow your own and have some great genetics and a super bull let me know! He is LimFlex x Brangus / Angus cross cow.
😢❤️
We cannot catch a break out at our place in New Berlin☹️.
I would like to introduce COLE Jurassic 01J our new herd sire. Jurassic is a son of COLE Genesis 82G and a daughter of CELL Envision 7023E. This mating has created an amazing set of EPDs.

It is super dry here. San Antonio is about 9 inches under average (what ever average means) for 2022. This is a total turn about from 2021. We had ample rain and it was green.
