A person I really admire made a post a few months back about “expectations” of what a fitness coach’s social media should look like.
And if I’m being real.. I kind of took it personal.
Not that he called me out specifically. But basically everything he said was “wrong” - I had done.
-Car videos…
-Less than perfect form on exercises..
-Rambling videos or constant interruptions while being on camera.
Well here’s the deal y’all.
I’m not the “perfect trainer”
I do videos in the car while hauling Stryker to and from activities, and sometimes you’ll catch me walking around the house with screaming children in the background, because well, that’s reality. And one that I am not trying to escape, or pretend doesn’t exist.
I embrace it.
I don’t have six pack abs at the moment, and I am carrying around about 10 lbs extra than what I’d consider my ideal.
Fitness wise- I am consistent, but is my form perfect on all my exercises?
Nope.
Just like all of you, I have a lot of work to do.
I need to strengthen things, I need to work on my flexibility.
Am I further ahead than most of you?
Probably.
But that’s why I’m passionate about what I do.
Fad diets, 6 week programs, 21 day detoxes..
Sure they work- for a split second.
But this whole thing.. fitness, nutrition, mindset, self-care, being willing to prioritize yourself..
It’s LIFELONG my friends.
So yeah, I’m not perfect at it.
But I AM leading from the front.
And personally, I don’t believe having 6 pack abs, perfect form, and scripted videos is what makes me a great coach.
I’m not “above” or “better” than you.
I’m coming from a place of.. we’re in this together.
I get it.
However, this just isn’t my first rodeo, and I know the way.
So I know exactly what it will take for me to get you from where you are, to where you want to go.
But, to be clear- I’m working on ME too.
So if you can’t handle my car videos, my screaming kids, and my less than perfect self.
