Males drop their antlers in November, leaving them without antlers until the following spring, while females keep their antlers through the winter until their calves are born in May.

If this trend continues, in the next month or so, Omicron may overtake Delta in the US.

🦠6-10 X more contagious spread
🔄 Higher risk of reinfection and vaccine breakthrough
🏨Even if milder, sheer number of infections could burden outpatient offices/labs/Walk-in clinic/ER and spill into hospitals that are staffed thin with tired teams.

💉That third mRNA vaccine dose is neeed now
😷Wear a mask in public indoor spaces and at multi family social gatherings.
🎄✈️ Avoid holiday gatherings and travel if at higher risk of severe disease- those with cancer, compromised immunity, and chronic diseases

"Designing for access is critical. A lot of digital solutions today are geared to people who are already health-conscious, the worried well.
My challenge is how to engage the non- worried sick. It’s the person with Type 2 diabetes who doesn’t know she’s sick that I’m most concerned about.”

Diabetics with Severe Sleep Apnea at Higher Risk of Blinding Eye Disease - Sleep Review 27/11/2019

Undiagnosed or untreated can increase the risk of blindness in patients with .

People with diabetes and high blood sugar levels have damage to the tiny blood vessels at the back of the eyes.

This condition is called diabetic retinopathy and it’s a leading cause of blindness in the United States.

Due to blood vessel damage, fluid and blood leaks into the retina. This fluid can cause swelling or edema in an area of the retina called macula, that allows us to see clearly.

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts, disrupting sleep and causing blood oxygen levels to drop. This drop in oxygen appears to unleash a host of changes in the body that may play a role in injuring blood vessels.

People with sleep apnea are at risk of developing hypertension, heart attacks, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.

At Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Tribal Health Service, federally recognized Native Americans and their spouses can get tested for diabetes, sleep apnea, and for diabetic retinopathy eye exam.

and and take note:

Is it ADD or is it really SDD- Sleep Deficit Disorder?

Make sure your kids are getting enough sleep and make sure they do not have obstructive sleep apnea ( OSA) before labeling them with diagnoses such as ADD, ADHD, Learning disorder, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, etc and putting them on heavy duty medications.
Please ask your pediatrician about sleep!!

1. Enough Sleep= minimum 10 hours for school age kids
2. No screen at least one hour before bedtime
3. No screen, phone, iPads, TV, video game in bedroom
4. Keep same sleep schedule on weekends for high school teenagers. If they are staying up late and sleeping in late over the weekend, it creates a “Social Jet Lag” and it will make getting up early more difficult and worse for them during school weekdays.

Parents/Guardians/Teachers- please evaluate sleep quality and quantity for any kid with learning or behavioral challenges.

Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI) are very commonly used medications. You may know them by their brand names- Nexium, Prilosec, Dexilant, Prevacid, and others.

They are helpful for treatment of stomach ulcer, acid reflux disease when diagnosed and prescribed carefully by your doctor.

Always double check with your doctor if you really, medically need to be on this type of medication long term.

A study of 150,000 veterans was just published in the British Medical Journal.

They found that Patients without indications for PPI use had higher mortality risk from Heart disease, Kidney failure, and also upper gastrointestinal cancer. Longer duration of use was associated with greater risk.

The authors concluded:
“Because of the high prevalence of PPI use, the findings have public health implications and underscore the important message that PPIs should be used only when medically indicated and for the minimum duration necessary.”
