You probably have someone, nephew/neice,grandkid,neighbor or some organization that is considering a fundraiser. Well let me tell you that Western Spirit has been involved with several and they all reported back with great success stories. One local Front Range purchased 16 cases and in a week had them ALL sold. They even said that the supporters were happy to see a product like this being offered. Then even after they enjoyed the salsa wanted more. Let's face it your fundraiser should be EXCITING not obligatory. Many prople bought 2 packages once they learned about the product ane company. making it. SO grab the pdf and make the pitch to your peep's. Let's make your fundraiser a success.
What made it happen?
Well Western Spirit Salsa has a story and a heartbeat. It all began in a small farmhouse outside Kutztown, PA. When I was a brewery rep. in the early mid ’90’s, I would host beer tasting events for home-brewers and professionals alike. During those sessions we would eat lots of snacks, chips and salsa was the predominant choice. We tried SO many salsa’s and we were very often disappointed with the flavor and largely no HEAT!
So being a foodie early on I set out to make a better salsa the best salsa. It didn’t take long before ‘Butchy’s Salsa’ had a cult following. Many in the brewing community were all about getting some of their own ‘Butchy Salsa’ whenever they could. I would make it 5 gallons at a time. I would let it age in the beer fridge for a week (then jar it-fresh), I had 2 fridges, one held the keg and the other held bottled beer and salsa. It was during this time when I worked with a man at Red Bell Brewing Co. whom said to me ‘Butchy you should sell this stuff, it’s better than anything I have ever had. It’s really good s**t man’ And you can all thank Dan Gannon in Phila for that advice and the first products name- Original GS.
Over this time I would tweak the recipe to adjust the flavors and blend to get the right consistency. I wanted everything that was in the salsa to be on the chip when you dipped it in. I also tried the canning process and quickly realized that is was greatly different from the fresh version. So the product would remain ‘fresh’ style.
So after a ski trip to Winter Park, CO in mid-March 1997, 2 months later in May of ‘97 I moved to Boulder, CO where life really took the course I had intended-super FUN, adventure, camping, fishing, whitewater rafting, skiing, snowboarding, you get the picture. The community of people out here were so entrepreneurial, so many people had their own businesses and worked for themselves, and living the life they designed. I thought I HAVE to do this too. But that would not be for awhile. I was too unsettled and wanted to be unencumbered in life. I wanted to be able to do things go places without hesitation. I continued to make salsa from time to time but it got less and less frequent.
