Due to potential for impactful weather conditions from Tropical Storm/Hurricane Francine, all TPSD schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 and Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. We hope that the hurricane will pass without incident and that we can all return to our normal routines as soon as it is safe to do so.

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, South Terrebonne High School held a Ribbon Cutting for the Newly Reopened Gym. Members of the Girls' Volleyball and Basketball Teams were there to help celebrate! Pictured below is Principal Madge Gautreaux (with the big pair of scissors) and the STHS community.

The Terrebonne Parish School District Community suffered a devastating school bus accident on Thursday, August 23, 2024, resulting in the loss of one of our Montegut Elementary students. Our deepest condolences go out to the student’s family, friends, and loved ones in this difficult time. No words can truly express the sorrow and heartbreak felt in a moment like this. Please pray for the Montegut and Point-Aux-Chenes communities affected by this unimaginable loss.

The Terrebonne Parish School District is aware of an accident involving a TPSD student and a TPSD School Bus. We are working with local and state authorities in this active investigation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the student, the student's family and the bus driver involved in this accident.

Today, the H. L. Bourgeois High School Classes of 1974, 1975, and 1976 honored the memory of Mr. L. P. Bordelon III, the first Principal of the school. Mr. L. P. Bordelon, III, former Terrebonne Parish School Board Member/Assistant Superintendent/Supervisor/Principal/Teacher recently passed away. The HLB Class of 74-76 had left over money raised from a recent reunion, and when deciding what to do with the money, had an idea to create a bench in Mr. Bordelon's memory.

Mr. Bordelon wore many hats throughout his career, and according to his daughter, Rebecca Bordelon, his time as Principal of HLB was his greatest years. The pictures posted are from the bench dedication that took place on the morning of Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Supt. Orgeron, members of his staff, HLB's current administration, and representatives of the Classes of '74, '75, and '76 were all there to present the bench to Mr. Bordelon's family.

Special thanks to Percy Mosley who built the bench and to Kirk Schexnayder who spearheaded the event.

TPSD was very fortunate to have Mr. L. P., a dedicated educator, spend his entire career with us.

Chemistry and physical science teachers completed a measuring activity and got a refresher course on using a Bunsen burner in the classroom. Teachers did a flame test with various chemicals and used their results to identify an unknown chemical sample.

In preparation for the start of school on Monday, August 5, 2024, All TPSD Music Educators assembled on Staff Development Day (Thursday, August 4, 2024) for training on adjudication by LMAA Charter Member and retired Lafayette High School Band Director Scotty Walker. The afternoon was led by local educators on district expectations and new resources for instruction.

TPSD would like to welcome back all of our Faculty and Staff! We hope you have a great 2024-2025 School Year.

TPSD plans to conduct an emergency test message to all students enrolled in a TPSD school for the 2024-2025 school year on August 2, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. This message is only a test of the emergency system. If a parent/guardian or emergency contact did not receive this test message, please update the student demographic sheet that will be sent home with each student on the first day of school and return to school ASAP.

Our District is gearing up for the 2024-2025 School Year. Supt. Orgeron and his staff welcomed new teachers to TPSD. Our new teacher orientation welcomed brand new teachers as well as teachers transferring from other districts and professions. Special thanks to our Curriculum Specialists and IT Departments for helping to plan out the day's events.
