and stories. This page was first designed in December 2013 by JT's mom.
JT is a 15 yr old teenage boy . He was born with Cerebral Palsy. This we did not know at first . We knew immediately he didn't have a good suck reflex, but as the weeks went by and he was still struggling to eat and keep formula down we were told he was a failure to thrive baby. As months went by we noticed he wasn't accomplishing any milestones like holding his head up, rolling over, babbling, re
Frank Morris was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1908. At the age of six he lost his right eye after hitting a tree branch while horseback riding, and at the age of 16 he lost his left eye during a boxing match. Morris was very frustrated with having to depend on others to help him get around.
In November 1927, Morris's father read him an article by Dorothy Eustis, an American philanthropist living in Switzerland who operated a school that supplied dogs to the police and Red Cross. The article described schools in Germany that trained guide dogs for WWI veterans who had gone blind from mustard gas.
Morris was inspired to write Eustis for help. "Is what you say really true? If so, I want one of those dogs! And I am not alone. Thousands of blind like me abhor being dependent on others. Help me and I will help them. Train me and I will bring back my dog and show people here how a blind man can be absolutely on his own. We can then set up an instruction center in this country to give all those here who want it a chance at a new life." Eustis agreed to help.
Morris went to Switzerland and trained with a female German shepherd named Kiss, which he quickly renamed Buddy. The training was hard, but after a few weeks Morris was able to get around the Swiss village safely with Buddy's assistance.
In June 1928, Frank returned to the US with Buddy in New York City. He notified the media and demonstrated Buddy's abilities by crossing a busy New York street. According to Morris "She [Buddy] moved forward into the ear-splitting clangor, stopped, backed up, and started again. I lost all sense of direction and surrendered myself entirely to the dog. I shall never forget the next three minutes: 10-ton trucks rocketing past, cabs blowing their horns in our ears, drivers shouting at us. When we finally got to the other side and I realized what a really magnificent job she had done, I leaned over and gave Buddy a great big hug and told her what a good, good girl she was."
Morris sent a one-word telegram to Eustis: "SUCCESS!"
In January 1929, Morris and Eustis cofounded the first guide dog school in the US called The Seeing Eye. It operated in Nashville for two years and then relocated to New Jersey because the weather was more suitable for training dogs. Between 1929 and 1956, Morris traveled throughout the US spreading the word about the organization and the need for equal access laws for people with guide dogs. By 1956, every state in the US had passed laws allowing blind people with guide dogs access to public spaces.
Buddy died on May 23, 1938. Morris named his next dog Buddy, as he would all his subsequent seeing eye dogs. On April 29, 2005, a sculpture of Frank Morris and Buddy titled The Way to Independence was unveiled in Morristown, New Jersey.
True 🤣
PSA - ATTENTION PARENTS!
School is almost starting and I want to ask you a favor… Sit down with your child for 5 minutes and explain that there is no reason to make fun of someone for being tall, short, chubby, skinny, black, white or hispanic, physically disabled, Autistic, etc. There's nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes 👞 👟 every day. Explain to them that a used backpack 🎒 carries the same dreams as a new one. Please teach them not to exclude anyone for "being different" or not having the same possibilities as another. Explain to them that teasing hurts... and that school is for going to LEARN, NOT to compete ❤️ You and I are worth the same!!!! Education starts at home‼️

The Shop Blind Challenge
Shopify NYC
131 Greene Street New York NY 10012
November 29 - 30 11:00am - 5:00pm
2BB customers love the Shop Blind experience online, so we had to give them the opportunity to try it in person. This will be an immersive experience where visitors will have the chance to participate in the viral shop blind challenge and see artistic installations that bring awareness to the blind and visually impaired community.
The idea is that customers will have the opportunity to “Shop Blind” and put their trust in others, just like blind and visually impaired people do on a daily basis. The space will be filled with Shop Blind Challenge tote bags containing mystery items, and only when you purchase your tote, will you will be able to reveal what’s inside.
For Giving Tuesday, 100% of the sales at the event will be donated to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
We can't wait for all of your to experience this live and to help us spread the mission and get us one step closer to curing blindness!
Study Shows That Husbands Stress Their Wives As Much As Children Married women have a lot on their plate, especially when there are kids involved. You’re trying your best to be a devoted wife, gourmet cook, caring mom and more, every day of your life. It&rsq…

“This is my dad, mowing my mom’s lawn. They’ve been divorced 28 years. My mom has bad knees, and my step dad works out of town. When my younger siblings questioned “Why is your dad mowing moms lawn?” I told them “Because, She needed help, and he knew she couldn’t get out here to do it, so he did” This is co parenting. This is how lucky I am to have 4 parents who respect each other, and know that at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is showing your children (Even ones that are 32 years old) how to treat people, and how to love your family, no matter how it came together. Edit: My dad is humored at how many people have seen this. He wants everyone to know “I’m no saint”, He just wants to show others that you don’t need to act like an angelic pastor on lent, but that we should all choose kindness whenever we can.”

Smart kid, lol.
Beautiful ♥️
👀 Talented !!! 😃
"After two years of applications and interviews and rejection after rejection, I’d started to believe the hate comments and messages; that maybe I really would never be able to work as a bedside nurse again.
I was just about to give up when I had one final interview for a position on a Mother/Baby Unit at a level 1 trauma center near me. After so much rejection, I figured they would take one look at my disabled body and find some reason to turn me down.
But to my complete and utter surprise, when I brought up my chair the response wasn’t what I was used to. Instead I heard,
'I don’t see why being in a wheelchair would impact your ability to deliver good nursing care in the slightest...plus, you’re the perfect height to catch.'
I was STUNNED to say the least. I kept thinking 'They had to have made a mistake,' and, 'Maybe I misheard them,' so much so that I barely told ANYONE until I had my orientation schedule in my hand.
But it WAS real and I didn’t mishear a thing.
As of this Monday, I will officially begin orientation for my new job as a nightshift staff nurse on Mother/Baby and the hospital’s very first RN on wheels. 🤗
I still keep thinking I’m going to wake up from this incredible dream.
I have to thank all my coworkers from my previous hospital for believing in me and reminding me daily that I am a strong and capable healthcare provider who just happens to get around faster than anyone in the entire hospital. 😜
Y’all pray for me as this trauma ju**ie learns a VERY different specialty! Stay tuned for more as I navigate entering back into the world of bedside nursing, ON WHEELS! 😷♿️♥️"
Huge thank you to Chronically Ry for sharing this with us. We are so happy for you, Ryann!

This young man has such compassion and is wise beyond his years. ❤️
Well, today didn't go as we hoped but it's in the hardest of times we learn the best lessons and feel the most gratitude.
Buffy was scheduled to have her teeth cleaned and removed today but Dr. Mac had a gut feeling she needed to look at some lab work before putting her under anesthesia. She was right; Buffy showed signs of advanced kidney failure so anesthesia was not an option and as a family we decided that the kindest and most loving thing to do would be to let her go before she lost her will to live and stopped eating and drinking.
I wouldn't have dreamed of leaving Robbie out of this decision or not allowing him to be part of the entire process so I immediately went and picked him up from school. On the way there he told me he wanted to be the one to hold her when she went to heaven. And of course, I gave him that honor. On the way home I told him how proud I was of him for understanding the importance of caring for old animals and helping to make sure they never ever suffer.
This is what he said...
(And for those of you who don't know, Robbie was adopted from the foster care system after years of severe abuse and neglect.)
"I know how it feels not to be loved or cared for and I don't want any animal of mine to ever feel that way. It's only sad for us when they go to heaven. It's a happy day for them. Thank you for being proud of me. Are you ok, Mom?"
From the mouths of babes.
(As our story is being shared more and more I feel like I need to add a little more context and also give you a deeper glimpse into the heart of my son. We adopt senior dogs. Robbie LOVES adopting senior dogs. He is sadly aware the longer a child remains in foster care the less likely they are to be adopted. He told me once "if all you guys had wanted was a baby, you would have never gotten me." He relates to our "old people" (that's what we call our senior dogs) in much the same way.
He has also reminded me on several occasions that it doesn't matter how long you have something for how much you love it. I asked him what he meant and he said "well you've only known me for two years but you love me like it's been forever." Yes, my son is the coolest.)

This particular auction will help research for Abdominal Vascular Compression Awareness like the Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome that my son JT suffered from.
If you feel like supporting a great cause , please take a look. I know the women in charge so it's legit. And they REALLY do help others and make a difference !!!! There is big stuff and small so even $5 could help. Thanks !

Happy Mother's Day to all you great mom's out there ! Hope your day was great !
10 years ago today I went to my first trade show in Dallas. I took my second prototype and introduced it to the retail world. Rebel Negley made me ride in it, handing out brochures, and pushed me to the Budweiser booth for the 4:00 happy hour because that’s where all the retail buyers were. YES we were stared at, YES I was embarrassed, and YES we got noticed! Thank you for not kicking us out!! 😂🤣🤦♀️

I'm more of a bubble bath and wine type but definitely considering this addition
