Water Wars Chapter 18: No Transparency = No Democracy

---
Urgent Update on DAPL Hearings: Many have eagerly awaited insights into the recent 'public' hearings on the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). However, the term 'public' takes a hit in this scenario. The Army Corps of Engineers initially excluded tribal leaders, setting a tone of opacity.

In a shocking turn, federal forces and police intervened when we questioned these exclusions. Watch as Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairwoman Janet Alkire, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Chairman Ryman LeBeau, and council members passionately present arguments against DAPL and its sham of an EIS.

This video also shares important context from Standing Rock Water Resources Director Doug Crow Ghost.

Let's stand together against injustice. We can't allow them to silence our voices!

Mother Earth needs our help! Sign the petition to stop DAPL: https://bit.ly/DAPL-EIS-2023-SR "All European tradition, Marxism included, has conspired to defy the natural order of all things. Mother Earth has been abused, the powers have been abused, and this cannot go on forever. No theory can alter that simple fact. Mother Earth will retaliate, the whole environment will retaliate, and the abusers will be eliminated." — Russell Means

Take Action Now! Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline: https://bit.ly/DAPL-EIS-2023-SR In 2016 and ‘17, Standing Rock Nation captured the world’s attention as they rose in resistance against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). This pipeline threatened the very heart of Standing Rock, with a perilous crossing beneath the Missouri River right at their doorstep. For the Lakota, it seemed like the realization of an ancient prophecy: a black snake creeping across the land, desecrating sacred sites, polluting water, and jeopardizing the Earth itself. Standing Rock’s rallying cry became clear: Mni wiconi! Water is life! Tens of thousands answered that call, a diverse coalition of Native and non-Native individuals, allies, and veterans converged at Standing Rock’s prayer camps, birthing a worldwide movement to safeguard Unci Maka, our Grandmother Earth. From major media outlets to grassroots initiatives, our voices echoed far and wide, and even President Obama took notice, ultimately halting DAPL construction. But with the change in presidential leadership, DAPL’s completion was fast-tracked via executive order. Standing Rock pursued a lawsuit, achieving a partial victory when a federal judge revoked DAPL’s permit until a comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) could be completed. Unfortunately, the courts later allowed the pipeline to resume operations. Now, after significant delays, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has finally released the highly anticipated draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), open for public review and comment. The time for action is now! It falls upon the public to once again stand in solidarity with Standing Rock. We must inundate the Army Corps with public comments, demanding the shutdown of DAPL and the creation of a new, impartially prepared, and valid EIS. This moment is critical, urgent, and represents our best chance to put an end to the Black Snake once and for all.

There is a significant problem when there is more regulation on prayer than moving oil underwater. The government still wants to regulate our spirituality but not protect our waters. Please watch and share this short video. #NoDAPL #DakotaWaterWars
