First new aluminum storm window is in on the second floor! The existing storms on this floor had been in terrible shape so they were removed 2 years ago. Cannot wait to get the rest of them on to protect my original wood windows. My windows are 38" wide, there was no way I was going to be changing out wood storms, and combo units were not in the budget. These are double track with a fixed bottom screen, in a custom paint color, with low-e glass from QuantaPanel down in PA. Now to start restoring that upper sash!
Summer reading. Women's history, fungi, and governance.
Before it got too hot to breathe outside, I got two more columns stripped and painted these past weekends. So I need to do a wee Dutchman repair at the corner? Sure but I didn't let that stop me...
Throw back to 2022 when I was given this Citation by the NYS Assembly for my work!
Another project is done! This workshop was super insulated so the client can work in all weather, conditioned with a single mini split. The modern design took inspiration from the existing home, while adding bold color in a new twist. We will be updating the home to match in a future project!

Built-in project complete! Another free project using only materials I had already. An old paint sample was the perfect amount of paint, shelf supports saved from the old spice cabinet setup, and leftover wood from redoing the gutters.
Haven't made a mess in a minute at so let's tackle the last mangy built in. Unlike the others, this one in my office is being updated, not completely removed, as I need more space for my ever expanding library of architecture books. It's also what I look at when at my desk so it's time to upgrade my view!
It's that time of year, better get those CE credits finished up!
Working on a concept model this morning for a in a rowhouse to replace a 70s monstrosity. Tiny footprint, so millwork to the rescue! Relocating the path of travel out of the kitchen is going to make all the difference to of the space!
End of Year Tax Credit Investment!
As we are nearing the end of 2023, now is the perfect time to do an end of year investment in the restoration project at 48 Hudson Ave. Recently, HAF has received over $2.2M in grant funds for our restoration work at the Van Ostrande-Radliff House. The last piece of the puzzle is investment in the NYS and Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credits. We have already had several investors at the minimum investment level and up, each contributing an amount that is meaningful to them.
If you've been thinking about being a part of Albany's oldest building, check out our investment page at:
Van Ostrande-Radliff House Rehabilitation | Common Owner Historic Albany is rehabilitating the oldest building in Albany, a Dutch house built in 1728. This building is an extremely rare example of urban Colonial Dutch architecture and one of the most tangible links to our country's Dutch past. Currently vacant with no heat, water, and limited electricity,...
