Western Greenway 5K
The Western Greenway 5K Run/Walk is a (3.1 mile) trail route starting and finishing at the McLaughlin Building of the former Met State Hospital in Waltham.
The Western Greenway 5K Run/Walk features miles of trails and old carriage roads which loop through a variety of habitats: including cattail marshes, red maple swamps, mature oak-hickory forests, vernal pools, new forests, and open meadows. The proceeds raised from the Greenway 5K will benefit RAW Series and the Waltham Land Trust.

The 2021 Western Greenway 5k is Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 1:00pm!
You can still register/pick up your bib, at Bistro781 on Saturday, October 30th, 10:30am - noon. Moody Street remains closed to cars right now, but there is parking behind Global Thrift which you can access via Taylor Street.
You can also register/pick up your bib on race day near the McLaughlin Building on Metropolitan Parkway. Advanced bib pickup has been slow so please allow a little extra time.

Our Story

The Western Greenway 5K Run/Walk is a (3.1 mile) trail route starting and finishing at the McLaughlin Building/Metropolitan Parkway in Waltham. The proceeds raised from the Greenway 5K will benefit RAW Series and the Waltham Land Trust. The route starts at the McLaughlin Building and enters the DCR’s trail system into the Beaverbrook North Reservation turning left at .35 miles heading toward the WGT. A right turn at .65 miles puts you on spur leading to the Greenway which is then followed for the next 1.1 miles while going over the wooden bridge connecting Beaver Brook North with Rock Meadow. A 1-mile clockwise loop around the meadow crosses the bridge again and turns left off the WGT and leads to the “Old Cemetery” as it is passed on your left at 2.6 miles and you begin to head back to the start.
