Improv: The Basics and Beyond! A new class is starting on Monday, May 13th, 7-9pm

So, get your yes, ands and your open minds ready!
This will be a 7-week improv class that is for anyone, 18 & older, who is looking to learn and build upon the foundational aspects of playing and performing improv.

This class is designed for beginners and intermediate level improvisers to focus on the fundamentals (agreement, relationships, character building, & space/object work) and putting them into practice in various improv acting exercises and games.

Have I mentioned the fun part yet? There will be plenty of laughs along the way! And, as an added bonus, there will be a graduation performance!

Our Story

Gainesville Improv Guild aka G.I.G. formerly called Much Ado About Doris Improv is a group of talented actors that have ranged in age 20 to 84. It was inspired by Norma Homan and founded by Sidney Homan in January 2013.

In January, 2013, Jeff Jurgens was named the director. The group has been as large as 16 members and as small as 6.

Our performances includes a variety improv games (short form and long form) that involve the audience, whether they join the group onstage or suggest the topic.

GIG Mission statement: Acting with our core values of teamwork, trust, camaraderie, playfulness, honesty, physical and emotional comfort with each other, we will support each other to grow our improv-ability individually and as a team, while supporting our community through benefit shows for local charitable organizations.
