We offer private boarding on our 40 acre farm just 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. We only take one family at a time so we can give your dog(s) our full attention. They live in our home with us like family, but with professional handling and training throughout their stay.

Every interaction with your dog is a training exercise … either you are training them, or they are training you. We can help teach you how to make sure it’s not the latter.

Taking your training out in public can be daunting, but with a good foundation in the home it can be surprisingly fun. And we can help!

Kids can enjoy training the family dog too! We have some great kid-friendly training exercises and love to get the whole family involved. It’s so rewarding for the dog and the child, and a great bonding experience!

Puppy training can be so exhausting 😆

In our puppy program we teach you, the dog’s family, how to communicate with your dog both as a puppy, and as she grows older. And, the lessons take place in YOUR home! You’ll learn how to teach your dog:
- Housebreaking (clear methods to get this done once and for all!)
- How to relax in the house (puppies have energy, but hyperactivity is not “inevitable”)
- How to control excessive behaviors like chewing, digging, counter surfing etc
- Appropriate greeting behaviors: without the jumping, hu***ng, barking, or charging!
- How to meet your puppy’s exercise needs
- How to train your puppy to walk on a leash
- Basic manners / practical obedience (e.g., go to place and stay)

Teaching your dog a solid set of behavioral rules might be the most crucial part of your time spent training. ALL dogs need a basic set of “manners” such as recall (responding to their name), sitting/staying, dropping/leaving objects, not pulling or jumping on leash, and focus training.

A dog with a strong foundation of obedience training will have more confidence around new people, dogs, or situations and will be more likely to respect and obey your commands.

Behavior training can be a long and involved process, and it takes dedication to build this foundation, but the good behaviors will last for years to come and will establish a lasting trust between you & your dog.
