Sharing a post from my other page "Mystic Mandala Medicine" about one of my favorite supplements: chyawanprash. Excellent to know about during these crazy covid times... Check it out!! Aloha!! 💚🦎🌳🌿

Ayurvedic Health Post!! ✨🌳🌿
Wanted to share one of my favorite Ayurvedic remedies. It’s called chyawanprash (or chyavanprash). It’s an ancient concoction made of nearly 50 medicinal herbs/extracts, including amla berry (considered the world’s 2nd richest source of vit C)(after Barbados cherry). Ghee, honey, and spices are added to make a jam-like consistency.
This supplement has been used for 3000 years!! (India) to enhance longevity and immunity. It rejuvenates the entire body.
Historic use advised taking on an empty stomach in the morning. I take it right after oil pulling with coconut oil. (Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic practice for healthy teeth and gums + general detox). I also take a second dose later in the day if my immune system or energy feels a bit weak. Or, if I’m abt to go surfing!!
Chyawmanprash is beneficial for allergies, asthma, memory, endurance, immunity, sexual health, digestion, skin tone⭐️, circulatory system (processing toxins), and more. It is especially useful for Vata dosha but can be helpful for all doshas. (Find a quiz online if you don’t know your dosha.)
Chyawanprash can improve nausea, heartburn, gastritis, and gas. It promotes healthy liver function and strengthens the kidneys. It improves respiratory infections and functions (asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus infections, etc). It historically helped with tuberculosis.
Chyawanprash can help anxiety, memory, & sleep, as it is relaxing to the central nervous system. It has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and thus has some benefit for depression, stress, and pain. It may have carioprotective (heart) benefits, too. It also helps with hormone balance, libido, and fertility (increase s***m count, balance female hormones, and more).
There’s so many benefits, I cannot fit them all here!! Have been loving this supplement for the past 10 years. Renewed my relationship with it since covid came to town.
I teach abt Chyawanprash in my holistic health mentorship in several different sections of the program. It's that important!! There are many good brands. Look for it online and let me know what you think!!
💚

Hi! My adventure has me working at the Chopra Center on the mainland right now (Carlsbad, CA), but I still maintain "Mana Medicine" as an online practice. Soon the Chopra Center will be closing its CA location, and I will be taking my holistic medicine + astrology practice on the road (internationally). Follow me on IG https://www.instagram.com/mysticmandala/ or check my other FB page "Mystic Mandala Medicine". Will try to keep up the eco-medicine posts here, as well, though!!

Positive effects of dancing in natural versus indoor settings: The mediating role of engagement in physical activity 19/07/2018

Doing some eco-psychology research for an upcoming talk I'm giving and came across this cool article...I really believe in the positive benefits of dancing and always have thought that dancing is best done outside (the indoor environments of most "ecstatic dance" type events sometimes discourage me from making the effort)... More outdoor dance please!!!

Positive effects of dancing in natural versus indoor settings: The mediating role of engagement in physical activity Using different environments, we tested how engagement in dancing may lead to positive emotions. We also explored the mechanism responsible for the ef…

Came across this sound clip tonight...I've always loved Carlos Castenada, and this piece is no exception--a good reminder to mind the thoughts we repeat to ourselves and remain open to the Mystery instead...

Scientific article from the Journal of Adolescence demonstrating the efficacy of outdoor adventure activities (Outward Bound and related programs) for mental health (report is targeting adolescents, but results are hypothetically generalizable). Would like to see long-term follow-up, but it's a nice report. No surprise, of course! Yes, time in nature is definitely good for us! In this case showing improved self-reliance, improved mindfulness, improved attentiveness, decreased stress, improved sense of well-being/self-esteem, etc.

Drinking Coffee Linked To Lower Rates Of Liver Cirrhosis 21/02/2016

I love cappuccinos and actually spent some time living on a coffee plantation on the Big Island of Hawaii, so I always love to hear positive things about coffee. I'm not recommending that people significantly increase their coffee consumption, however!! Too much caffeine is not a good thing for many, if not most, people. But there are some great antioxidants and other positive compounds in the coffee bean. Certainly seems like it could be good to have a cup of coffee after a night (or day) where alcohol was consumed. It's worth knowing, I think, that coffee can help protect the liver...It also has been shown to improve brain fitness (no surprise) and memory, decrease risk of su***de and depression, reduce risk of diabetes (and heart disease/stroke), and decrease risk of all-cause death.

The Benefits of a Lunch Hour Walk 11/10/2015

I definitely recommend mid-day walks to keep your energy high. Also viewing art during lunch has been shown to reduce stress and improve afternoon mood.

Mindfulness Beats Exercise, Healthy Diet in Resistant MDD 10/06/2015

Well, I believe in mindfulness/meditation AND exercise + healthy diet, but this study demonstrates how the brain literally rewires itself with meditation and is (thus) able to improve its resistance to depression. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/845057
