Our Story
The story of MarshmallowMBA began in 2016 but making marshmallows started long before that... As family history goes, our co-founder Amy and her grandma Trout spent a lot of time together in the kitchen as she was growing up. Many of the recipes they made were for gifts - fudge, cookies, candies, jams. Grandma’s sweet tooth was legendary. Even as she grew older and lost much of her appetite, she could always find her appetite for some candy.
Amy continued the tradition of gifting holiday treats to friends and family even after Grandma passed although to be fair she never was able to recreate her fudge... One evening a friend was eating a box of candy she had shared with him. He looked at her and said, “I don’t know why you’re not selling this... You could be the Marshmallow MBA...” After her laughter subsided (and she suggested he have more wine), a longer conversation ensued... then more wine... and the idea took root...
Later that week Amy shared the conversation with her former college roommate (and co-founder) Sandra who asked the pivotal question, “How hard are marshmallows to make?” Pots were pulled out. Ingredients were pulled out. Mixers were started. Dishes were dirtied and washed and dirtied and washed... Less than 3 months later, MarshmallowMBA was officially launched in March 2016.
Now MarshmallowMBA handcrafts gourmet marshmallows in more than 100 flavors for retail and wholesale customers across the United States. We want you to forget everything you think you know about marshmallows until you try our products! We ship marshmallows nationwide through our online retail shop. Select products are also available at specialty retailers.
