People often state a gender binary (“there’s only male and female”) based on chromosomes XX (female) and XY (male). At some point you have to move past grade-school biology lessons…

There are many other chromosome types, such as: XXY, XO, # # #, XYY, and even something called Mosaic Variants.

Mosaic variants are when when some cells in the body even have a different chromosomal makeup than others.
A person can have some cells with XY chromosomes and others with XXY.

Some other examples of mosacism include:

- XX & XO
- XO & XY
- XY & # #
- XX & XYY
- XXY & XYY
- XXY & # #
- XXY & # # #

Mosaicism can result in a range of physical and developmental features, depending on the proportion and distribution of the affected cells.

This is important for all of us to know.

This intro. article clarifies that "Gender Affirming Care" is not about "s*x change surgeries" "mutilating children" or any of the other boogeymen anti transgender advocates say it is.
I recently was invited to a forum on Abbott and Paxton's legal intervention saying mental health professionals MUST turn in families that provide "gender affirming care" to minors. I thought folks would be as appalled as my practice associate and I were. Nope.
The forum put on by "Association for Mental Health Professionals" through "Practice Mentors" pushed lie after lie. There are no standards - Despite WPATH, World Professional Association for Transgender Health" existing to set standards since 1979. (revised in 2022).
Also, I was suprized to learn that I sign off on mutilating children eagerly for my own sick pleasures and needs. (without doing any research, exploration with clients nor 10 page forms explaining my care as they claim.)
I would say more education is needed - and it is - but if any of these so called professionals had even bothered to do a casual search they would no that was all malarky.
To make clear - Families providing Gender Affirmation is not "child abuse" and it does not fit either of my licenses ethical code definitions of "abuse or neglect" in and of itself.

Texas aint on the absolute worst list but it is not because Abbott and Paxton and their ilk are not trying.

Paxton is outrageously overreaching here! This is an offense to all Texans privacy and rights. If they succeede here, and keep succeeding on taking women's rights no one is safe. Vote! Write! But these jerks are serious so lets also protect ourselves and those around us; allies, friends, family, organizations supporting us and fighting with and for us. We are stronger togewther and we are on the right side of history.
