Ms. Vickie Speaks about the BEIP Impact on Congo Dancer’s Lives in Colon - Grab a Tissue! 🙏🏾❤️

When we asked Ms. Vickie how BEIP has impacted the dance group. She said they really appreciate being able to have work every 3rd of the month with BEIP (BEIP CULTURAL CARIBBEAN DAY) and the group members are happy to take earnings to their families. She also told spoke about the impact it has had on the youngest member of the group. You have to watch the video to see why THIS story made Teo and I get choked up and cry. THE BACKSTORY . . .

BEIP was created in 2019. I started it as a Facebook group because I was looking to connect with “Black Expats in Panama” and could find NOTHING on FB (which was (and still is my “go to” social media). The Holy Spirit directed me to CREATE it!!

The group page grew slowly (about 200 members in the first year). I hosted the first Meetup in November 2019 (Jazz with Idania at the American Trade Hotel). The second Meetup was Feb 2020 when I celebrated my Panama residency. We now host an annual “PANAMA RESIDENCY CELEBRATION” during the month of February. In 2024 we will host the 4th Annual Celebration.

Fast forward to May 2020 . . . George Floyd, Karen in the Park, Donald Trump and Covid COLLIDED on that dark day after the Memorial Day Holiday.

The FB Group page EXPLODED! People wanted to learn about Blaxiting to Panama! As a result of the demand, BEIP CULTURAL Relocation Tour was created.

When I said I want to go to Colon, the pushback was IMMEDIATE! “NO - Don’t take people to Colon, no one wants to see that, it’s too dangerous, blah, blah, blah.” Honestly, I had not been to Colon in 15 years!! I REALLY didn’t know if the loud voices would prove me wrong! However . . . “SHE PERSISTED” LOL.

Fast forward to September 2023. BEIP has completed 23 Cultural Relocation Tours to Panama (plus 2 more Sistas in Panama™️ Retreats) and we have visited Colon EVERY TIME! We have established relationships with businesses in Colon and the most important one (to me personally) is with Ms. Vickie and the Congo Dancers. This video gives you a clue as to why. The group has not only grown, but has improved and receives much more interest and requests for performances from other Black expats groups and tourists who have heard about BEIP Cultural Caribbean Day.

I counted it an honor to be interviewed for this very nice article. I’d like to thank Clyde McGrady for taking the time to reach out to Locks-4-Ever. I had a great time talking to him about the reaction by the Sisterlocks community upon learning of nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson and we talked about Sisterlocks in general. Here are a few statements that didn’t make it to print, but I wish to share:

I said Justice Jackson’s Sisterlocks®️ Consultant needs a S/O for taking
such good care of her hair ❤️

I thanked Dr. Cornwell for creating an amazing business opportunity for AA women

Even though I am no longer serving clients in VA, I still get requests everyday to establish or maintain Sisterlocks. I’ve not necessarily noticed an uptick in US calls, that’s always constant. I refer prospects to other Consultants in the area when I can.

I HAVE, however, noticed an uptick in requests for Sisterlocks in Panama. I hadn’t thought about a possible connection to the nomination, but it’s possibly the reason. I’ll start to ask.

I also said, we are really happy to see Sisterlocks present in the highest court, but at the end of the day, Sisterlocks is icing in the cake because Justice Jackson ROCKS - PERIODT!! 🙌🏾😊

This a much needed bright moment in US history! It’s nice to watch the news and actually have a reason to “smile.”
