See this bag? It's empty. Which means...there is no cat in it.
SO...since the cat is no longer inside the bag, I guess I'd better let you all know what I've been up to. 🤣
Many of you already know I left my previous employer about 6 weeks ago. It was a huge leap of faith, and of course there is and was risk involved, but it felt like the right thing to do.
Since then I've been lurking and working, building myself up to this point where I can now OFFICIALLY say this:
SmArt Design is now SmArt Design Media LLC!!! (Still operating under SmArt Design because...I'm kind of partial to my branding.) 🤷🏻♂️
So what does that mean? Well it means I am now licensed and insured to bring you a gamut of services that I've been providing (on the side) for years now. I have almost 15 years experience as a graphic designer, video editor/creator, logo designer, social media manager/content creator, and more recently have ventured into the world of aerial/drone photography and videography!
I already have a list of clients, some who've rode with me from day one, and some who have just jumped on board, but the good news is, THERE'S ROOM FOR MORE!!!

Who am I?
My name is Ryan, and I am a graphic designer.
How I got to this place is hard to believe, but I’m so glad that I’m here, and if you’re reading this, that means you’re at least considering letting me bring some of your ideas to life, so THANK YOU!
My journey into the world of graphic design started with ministry. Over 10 years ago I joined up with an awesome group of people to help with an evangelistic student ministry that met once a month in a local church. At first I just knew that I wanted to be a part of it, didn’t really care how, but then I started noticing how they used media in their services, and in other areas, and I started asking questions. I was quickly introduced to a couple of people (you know who you are) who took me under their collective wings and began showing me the ropes of design, video recording and editing, and so much more.
From that point I was a sponge, YouTube became my best friend and I started watching how-to videos and I gradually worked my way up to where I felt comfortable using programs like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, and then I was off to the races. My time in that ministry was short-lived, as I was recently married and my wife and I had just had our first and only child, so I had to step away to devote time to them, but I didn’t stop designing. I grew in knowledge and skill and eventually worked my way back in to doing design for ministry at the church I was attending.
My wife and I then got involved in children’s and youth ministry, where I had even more opportunities to design and build things from scratch, some of which I am still proud of to this day, and some that I wish could be erased eternally. Then, several years later, my wife and I felt we were being called to a new church that had launched in our community, which oddly enough, had been started by the same group of people I was in ministry with all those years ago, where I got my start in the graphic design world. I had come full circle!
My wife began working in music almost immediately (which is definitely her calling), and I found myself back in media world. I started helping with social media, and then grew in my responsibilities there and now I just try to do whatever needs to be done, and do it with excellence.
During this time I was working at an automotive distribution facility, almost 7 years, and I found myself having opportunities to use some of my graphic design skills even in that world, but when my time there came to an end, not long after I found myself applying for a job in the advertising department of a grocery distribution center. I’d never thought that I would be aptly qualified to land that position, but here I am exactly 1 year later, and I’ve learned much about the world of advertising and skilled myself up even more in my time there.
I know that’s a lot, and if you’ve made it this far...thank you for having enough interest in who I am and what I offer to read my story. I am not a proud person, but I do pride myself in my integrity, and I feel it’s an integral part of my business model and how I conduct myself both personally and professionally. I don’t want you to just know “what” I do, but also “why” I do it. My faith is a big part of who I am, and without my faith, you probably wouldn’t be sitting here reading this, because it was that desire to serve that gave me the opportunity to do the things I do, and learn and grow and experience the large amounts of trial and error that have shaped me into the artist that I am today.
So now that you have the who, the what, and the why...my question for you, is when and how? When and how can I offer my services to you in order to help you grow your customer base, spread the word about your services, your music, or whatever the case may be?
