Dari’s Keepsake Cards is a local business in Southern Pines started by a lifelong resident, Doris Leslie. A nickname coined by her favorite first born grandchild, Dari has been sewing, crafting, crocheting, drawing, and making cards since before she can remember. She learned to sew when she was 12, has made hundreds of bridal gowns, prom gowns, bedding, art and more. Now she teaches her aquired techniques to others.

After her husband was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer, she needed a thank you card to send to a coworker who sent their well wishes. With the limited ability to go purchase one for the sake of taking care of her husband, she sat down decided to just make one. Business started off with just the need to make a card quickly, but into a full time job creating handmade gifts for those closest to our hearts. Shortly after her husband passed, she retired. She found that card making and other crafts helped mend her grieving process, and enjoys the thought and love put into each one. Many were given as gifts but there were still many more. So she began showing her work at craft shows and fairs in the community.
