Due to inclement weather forecast for this evening, Florence After 5 has been rescheduled for Friday, August 2 from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. We can't wait to bring Tru Sol to the 100 block of S. Dargan Street, and are so thankful they had an opening in their schedule to allow us to postpone!

Big day for SOH doing something new… we will be at the City Center Farmers Market in downtown Florence today from 9-1 - pies (whole and slices), cookies, and vanilla extracts - come out and see us as we begin this new adventure today - thank you all as always for your support 😊🙏🥧🍪🦁⭕️

A couple of new vanilla extracts have been bottled this morning - these are made with vanilla beans from Peru, a relatively hard-to-find species of vanilla called V. pompona - the beans are much larger than the typical Madagascar (and many other locations, V. planifolia) and Tahitian (and many other locations, V. tahitensis) vanilla beans - the extract has a very distinct cherry smell, with other tropical fruits, licorice, and cinnamon notes - the taste is a deep, rich vanilla with a definite cherry finish - it is one of the darkest colored vanilla extracts that I have made - the picture below is (L to R) Hawaiian (one of my favorite), Sumatran, and Peruvian extracts - for sale now at $27 (extracted in white rum, so maybe a touch sweeter) and $29 (extracted in vodka) - 3 bottles of each available now - let me know! 😊🥧( )😋🦁⭕️

Great question that you might have had…yes, the tastes are unique and different, but you’ll have to trust me on that until you can taste some sometime…(wait, did someone say tasting party?? 🤔…) - in the meantime, here are three recently bottled varieties, l to r, Sumatran, Hawaiian, and Ugandan, all in vodkas - the colors I’ve seen, from oranges through deep red to brown, are characteristic of the different beans, just like the flavor profiles - remember you can find the price list in the pinned post near the top of the home page - let me know what you’d like 😊🥧(🍪 )🙏🦁⭕️

The first seven bottles (of 23 total) from the single largest batch of vanilla extract I have done so far - 7.4 oz of Ugandan vanilla beans in 1.75 L of Khor Ukrainian vodka - they are on the price list ready for your baking and gift giving needs 😊😋 - flavor-wise, I’d say in my current opinion that this is alongside the Madagascar beans the purest, most familiar vanilla flavor -

Here’s the latest batch of bottled vanilla extract - one of my favorites - vanilla beans from Hawaii (the only place they are grown commercially in the US) extracted in Ocean vodka, which is also made in Hawaii -
