Known for their innovations and determination to build the best rod for the job, we casted a handful that left us walking away impressed. The finite detail given to each rod, from the engineering to the finishing touches, is second to none. Made in Montana by skilled local workers, we’re proud to carry in all our shops.

57 FEET TO FREEDOM
Poudly made in the U.S.A, the Ballistic Lazer 57 is an absolute dry fly sniper. The long, 57-foot taper excels at delivering text-book presentations to picky but at a distance.

Why is the Ballistic 57 Lazer designed with a 57-foot head?
Having an extended rear taper, a long powerful mid-section, and a soft-landing front taper allows for glers, pro or not, to easily cast long distances. We've found that this 57-foot taper profile strikes a balance between line control, accuracy, and loop stability. ne combination of these three characteristics is critical in a long-distance dry fly line.

A PROVEN TAPER PROFILE
The Ballistic 57 Lazer builds off Master Casting Instructor Lee Davisons original Ballistic Pro Performance taper, adding all the modern amenities we've come to appreciate in a high-end fly line:

Slickness Integrated: Inside and out, slick technology is integrated in the fly line and increases casting efficiency, sheds algae, and adds to the durability and longevity.

Laser I.D.: Laser printed identification on the tip lets you distinguish what fly line you're throwing at a glance, for those who hit the water with multiple spools of fly line.

Welded Loops: Having a welded loop on both ends of a fly line makes it easier to attached backing and leaders with a loop-to-loop connection.

NEW FLY DROP⚡️
McFly Crab is a versatile fly pattern for easy on-the-water modifications and effective fishing in any location. Durable and Vivid Legs: Crafted with Ultra Micro Chenille legs, this pattern ensures greater durability and vibrant color retention compared to traditional rubber legs. The McFly Crab serves as a blank canvas that can be effortlessly colored to imitate the majority of crab species, providing unparalleled adaptability. Easily trim the materials to adjust the size of the pattern, perfect for targeting selective permit. Unlike conventional crab patterns, the McFly Crab is weighted with lengths of non-lead wire lashed to the shank. This unique design allows the fly to land softly on the water and sink uniformly, mimicking the natural movement of an unthreatened crab. The wire weighting system offers precise control over the flys weight, avoiding the limitations of standard lead eyes. This flexibility ensures optimal performance across varying water depths.

It’s been a while since has released a new pattern. The Pizza Delivery was created in Chile in 2005 as an over-the-top laughable fly for Andrews clients to fish to the extra-large and often extremely gullible trout. Clients would come from all over the world and proceed to ask Andrew what the predominant hatch they would be fishing would be, and he would notoriously reply Were going to fish pizza and hot dogs!" The fly had a second coming during Andrew's days of guiding the Gunnison Gorge in Colorado. He often used it as his guide indicator fly and would often catch fish on it during the famed salmon fly hatch. The fly has traveled the world at this point and has caught steelhead in the PNW & Canada, carp in Montana, as well as trout from Chile to Kamchatka!

The Tuscan Bunny | Drew Chicone's Favorite Tarpon Fly (Fly Tying) 01/07/2024

While on location in Belize for 2024 Permit Camp, Drew Chicone shared a wealth of salt water fly fishing and fly tying knowledge. This is a late night fly tying session with the crew.

Chicone's Tuscan Bunny started with spun deer hair but over time he developed a creative variation with a "Fettuccini Foam" head that we now recognize this fly for. The rabbit fur on the back of this fly has a ton of movement. The added foam keeps the fly from getting saturated and keeps it suspended longer. The foam head also adds a more erratic movement when stripped which also allows the rabbit strip to have more movement in the back. This is a great Snook or Tarpon pattern especially to throw shallow or into the mangroves.

WALK THE DOG⚡️
The Spiral Spook is a topwater walk-the-dog fly that cuts sharply side to side with the classic "spook” action that triggers explosive eats. It is an awesome choice for any species that feed on baitfish on the surface.

The softer or more supple your tippet is, the better it will walk side to side. Using very short, sharp strips is the real key to getting the best action.

To fish this fly, use a loop knot and a floating weight forward fly line, preferably with a short taper. Use supple monofilament or nylon tippet, and do short, sharp 1-2" strips with your fly rod tip just barely touching the waters surface to prevent the fly line from swinging back and forth.

Bone Appetite⚡️
Chicone developed this fly while chasing Bones down on South Andros Island, Bahamas. Chicone ties Arctic Fox in as the wing material to reduce water retention instead of a rabbit strip. Additionally, the body is wrapped with just the right shade of pink braid which is more durable than palmering materials like Krystal Flash.
If you’re heading to the flats, make sure you grab a handful of Chicone’s Bone Appetite.

Trust The Process⚡️
Drew Chicone worked on this fly pattern for several years. After some final tweaks, Drew cracked the code and the Contraband Crab was born.
While down at Permit Camp in Belize, Chicone showed us how he builds his Contraband Crab bodies, and how he attaches the hook assembly to deliver the final product.

Ultimate Topwater Disturbance⚡️
Chicone originally designed the Disco Shrimp to target mangrove snapper in South Florida. This is a realistic topwater pattern that moves a lot of water and makes some noise with its built in worm rattle. Chicone recommends short strips followed by awkwardly long pauses. This fly has also been effective to fool snook, redfish, and seatrout.
