UTC Clarence T. Jones Observatory
The Observatory serves the Chattanooga community with astronomy outreach. Join us at one of Chattanooga's premiere free attractions.
The Observatory is located 4.5 miles east of campus at 10 Tuxedo Avenue, north of Brainerd Road and Belvoir Ave. If you have trouble with the path up the front entrance, feel free to park in the parking lot behind Brainerd United Methodist Church. Thank you Chattanooga for the incredible turn out for our last Star Party of the year on Sunday. It was an interesting Fall season with the small set back we had in September. We are excited to continue our contact and outreach, educating the public about the universe and other astronomy-related topics and hope that you join us for our Star Parties in the spring. The Spring schedule will be posted early in January. As we close out the year, we'd like to thank all of the volunteers from the BAS and UTC that make the Star Parties what they are. We'll see you next year!!!

Hopefully, this will be the last cancelled Star Party. We are still working to get the Observatory in-shape for the public and are taking it one week at a time. Please pass the word that this coming Sunday, Nov. 5th Star Party is cancelled. Stay tuned for more information about the rest of our Star Parties this season.
Hello wonderful folks. You helped us pass along the word about the last Star Party that was cancelled, please help us again. We are unfortunately cancelling the October 29th Star Party as we still need to remove the smoke smell from the building. Once that has been done, and we do some final clean up, we'll get these parties started! So, stay tuned, we're going to take it one week at a time. Thank you again for your support, we are so excited to welcome you back to the Observatory and show you all of the new and exciting additions to your experience, hopefully very soon!

Please spread the word that tonight's Star Party is cancelled. We are still assessing the damage and will share news about our future Star Parties, etc. as soon as we have more information about how long it will take us to reopen. We are optimistic that we will continue with our Star Parties this season and will keep you updated via our social media pages. We feel the love from the community and thank you for your concern and your appreciation for Chattanooga's historic Observatory. We ask that you stay away from the site as the investigation continues. Once we're given the all clear, you can guarantee that we will work to get the public back to learning about the universe!
