My extra fancy laptop stand...gotta get the right angles for being on camera at my desk AND on the floor 🙃 🧘♀️
Day 1 of our 3 day retreat with & was so much fun!🤸♀️
Singing along with vigor as I work to be this person to myself 💞 sometimes a song is just what's needed
Thinking of my friend & co-presenter while I take a rest with my legs up the wall after lunch at a workshop...we have more farm wellness retreats coming soon, so you can learn how to be this cool too! 😂
EXACTLY what I needed to shed some tears and learn some things. I'm starting to learn the signals for when I need to get my head right and restore myself - then actually do something about it. It still took a lot to get myself to go...feeling glad. 🥰
Sneaking a day of rest between overscheduled days and seemingly neverending tasks, I got up early to get some things wrapped up before my appointment for a massage. Now that I'm basking in the sun of the waiting room, I'm trying to let go and connect with what I need. There is no right way to take care of yourself besides what feels right and is accessible to YOU...part of that was sharing here, and now for the rest of the day I'll be unplugged. I did my best, and anything more can wait 'til tomorrow.
Sitting by the river reflecting on an amazing weekend. Grateful that I could schedule an extra night in Lacrosse to wind down after the conference. I've spent a lot of my life pushing myself to the brink - we all have to do it sometimes - it's hard to pause, and it can have a cost... Spending the extra money was difficult, but I knew it was the right thing for my body and brain. Trying not to worry about whether it was the "right" choice, and in this moment, hearing the waves and birds, I feel more sure. There's no one right way to take good care of ourselves, today it looks like this for me.
Sending love to you as you find your ways today too. 💞

DUDE! In a vermicomposting group someone posted about a worm scarf he made and joked about selling them to help fund his worm farm... AND NOW I HAVE A WORM SCARF! 🪱🥰 I LOVE PEOPLE (and worms) this is the magic of the Internet ✨

Read “Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto.” Stop feeding the algorithms with made up ideas about rest that have no analysis of capitalism and white supremacy. Embodiment is necessary. Reimagining rest is necessary. We don’t need more consumerism and travel. We need to rest. We need silence. We need to listen to our bodies. We need community care that is not attached to consumerism and capitalism. Go rest your eyes right now. Go daydream.
This day was such an honor to be part of...advocating for farmer health has been our passion for years, and it's so gratifying to have opportunities like these to share it with such a receptive, delightful audience! 🥰 Feeling so grateful
Today WiWiC team members are at a Soil Sisters event in Lafayette County at Plowshares & Prairie Farm learning about organic vegetable production, federal farm assistance programs, local conservation resources, and taking care of our most important resource - our bodies - from body worker Laura Fredrickson-Gosewisch of Vital Ground Farm. We will post her amazing presentation on our blog soon. Sign up for our newsletter at WiWiC.org to get news about more upcoming events.
Interesting things to consider here - the status quo of our food system is more problematic than we'd like to believe, and this is just one element. A more just food system is needed NOW and we won't shut up about it.
Forced labor may be common in US food system: study Some of the food on U.S. tables has a high probability of having been picked, prepared or processed by Americans who were forced to do it, a new study has found. And because the U.S. attempts to ke…

farming in a way that resonates deeply with them personally - the work will always be grueling but it helps when what we grow nourishes our souls AND soil 💞
Over the years I’ve gravitated toward growing crops native to my country using regenerative practices that protect our soil and water. These practices have been in place for a very long time – allowing the land to work for you, taking what you need and not more than that. It’s so important when we think about land usage to remember we’re utilizing the land as a community and to think about profitability and sustainability alongside biodiversity and investing in our community.
I’m excited to continue trialing millets this year. Millet is a staple food back home in Somalia. I was drawn to growing millet because I want to serve it to my kids and I’m thinking about what we can grow for the community as the climate is changing. Millet doesn’t require a lot of water once established, it’s resilient and low maintenance, it can grow in soil you’re rejuvenating…also, have you ever seen a field of foxtail? It’s so beautiful!
