Today is Memorial Day. Let us pray: Almighty God, you are our strength and our shield. We give you thanks for the members of our armed forces past and present, and especially for those who have died while serving. May their sacrifices serve the cause of peace, and may our nation be ever grateful for their service. With your wisdom and strength guide our militaryโs leaders and give to all people a desire for justice and peace. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Prayer for Memorial Day, Sundays and Seasons)

Happy Earth Day!
๐ For Angelita Galinato, every day is Earth Day. A member of the Tagbanua tribe, one of the Philippines oldest ethnic groups, she has a close connection with nature, relying on the earth โ and her hard work as a farmer โ to provide for her family. But flat land and harsh weather conditions made farming challenging. Angelita and her community were struggling to harvest enough food to survive, and traditional farming techniques were harming their delicate watershed ecosystem. ๐ฑ
That is until caring neighbors, like you, sowed the seeds of the hardy purple yam into their lives.
Because of you, Angelita and her community learned sustainable practices that not only yield healthier crops and higher incomes, but also protect the earth that nurtures them.
This Earth Day, let's celebrate the power of small changes to create a big impact. What change will you make? ๐๐

God our creator, you have ordered seedtime and harvest, sunshine and rain. Give to all who work the land fair compensation for the work of their hands. Grant that the people of this and every nation may give thanks to you for food, drink, and all that sustains life; may use with care the land and water from which these good things come; and may honor the laborers who produce them; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (ELW, p. 78)
Amen!
Today is RevPaul Sannerud's birthday! Send him some love!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pastor Paul! NBC is glad you were born ๐
