Does this crew look like they had a good time spearfishing? 🤙🏽
Today was Tyler’s 4th time spearfishing. He had gone a couple times in California and once with a 3 prong in Hawaii. After spending some time onshore talking about hunting and stalking theory and revisiting some specifics around breathing techniques we jumped in. I spotted a big Roi that was holed up and after a quick surface debrief on exactly what was needed to shoot it, Tyler took the drop and layer down perfect ex*****on. A few minutes later I spotted a nice Omilu under a ledge, after a quick chalk talk on the surface Tyler again laid down some perfect ex*****on and landed a nice Omilu. When you pair expert instruction with a patient and receptive student you get results. It’s what we do daily.
Yeah, but can you shoot a Roi this big?
I’m always stoked when I’m able to land a fish this small. In invasive species Spearfishing tournaments, the smallest Roi category is always the most coveted prize. Anyone can shoot a big one, but try tracking down a 1-2oz fish and getting a shot. 😉
