Solid running this past weekend!

This past Saturday and got after their own respective races and are starting to capitalize on fitness gains made in the past months. Unprecedented cold on Saturday morning made for less than ideal racing conditions but we came away with decent running all the same.

Katie came 38th, 2nd for women, and 1st in her age group overall in the Hoboken Turkey Trot 5k, cracking 21 minutes for 5k on the road.

After a slightly rocky 4-6 weeks of training heading into his half marathon debut, Phil popped out with a nice 1:15:22 at the Philadelphia Half Marathon, coming 78th overall and 25th in his age group.

popped out for a lowkey time trial this morning to get a better sense of where her current fitness is at and came away with 19:57.7 for 5K! Looking forward to more as the fall starts to heat up!

A bit of an unintentionally late shout out but on May 1st ran 2:27:13 for her first ever half marathon! She’s still in the midst of a rest period but we are looking forward to getting back into it soon!

MASSIVE PERSONAL BEST 🚨🚨🚨

This afternoon Katie got after her final time trial of her fall season, running 19:52.79 for 5K, a 33 second drop from her previous best of 20:25 and finally getting under 20 minutes!

This time last year, Katie ran 21:43 for her final 5k of that season, and she came back to run nearly 2 minutes faster in excellent fashion!

From here we head into a well deserved down period before getting into a winter build preparing for the spring, believe!

Closing off the season

This morning Phil got after his final time trial of the season, running 26:54 (5:24/mile) for 8km on the track! Phil’s 5 mile time from his last race at the Westfield Turkey Trot converted to a 27:16 8K, and we wanted to take one more crack at the distance to get under the 27 min mark and came away successful! Now it’s time for a well deserved break!

Reaping the rewards

Bit of a delayed post but yesterday Marathon Method runners had a great day at the Westfield Turkey Trot!

Katie ran 33:40 over 5 miles, running over a minute personal best, winning her age group and coming 6th overall for women.

Phil ran a very solid 27:26 with a strong negative split to secure 3rd place overall. Only a few more weeks left in our custom season! Time to crack down!

Track was hot this morning as both and lowered their 5k bests for the season, Katie running a new overall personal best of 20:25 and Phil locking into a new best of 16:43, 25 seconds faster than his opener at the Verizon Corporate Classic.

From here we enter a block to get after a few weeks of solid training before racing the Westfield Turkey Trot, time to ramp it up!

This morning got after her second opening time trial for this season, running 20:35 for 5k, a 35s overall personal best and more than a minute faster than her opening 5k from last year!

From here we get back to normal training volumes and start stacking the necessary workouts to build to peak 5k racing ability by the end of this training block. Time to get to work!
