How perfect is little Karina?! She was in the studio last week and was a dream to work with!

Last weekend was packed with beautiful moms and their babies!! :)

Looking for a fun spring mini? These gardening minis are the cutest thing and super interactive! These sessions will be right at my studio on Main Street Susquehanna 🙂

Limit three people per session (most images will be 1 or 2 people at a time, but someone mentioned having grandparents come and do this with grandkids and I really love that idea- so I'm open to parents/grandparents helping 1 or 2 kids but the set isn't huge so I just want to manage expectations that this wont be accommodating to large groups)

Children must be able to follow simple directions and stand unassisted on a step stool (for example- "Ok, now lets put these seeds in the dirt!" "Pick up the watering can, lets pour some water in that pot" "Can you get a big scoop of soil and put it in that pot?")

We've been having some sparkly fun in the studio! I have two open spots if anyone is interested this upcoming Saturday!

Looking forward to a fun year!!!

I really wanted to wait until after the holidays to post this but I know so many parents/grandparents are looking for giftable experiences vs more toys so I wanted to put this out there now for anyone who might be interested! These sessions are SO MUCH FUN! This isn't the typical "sit here, hold this, smile" session-
Girls can arrive in their regular clothes and then they'll head into the restroom and put on their outfits. After they are dressed they'll go over to "makeup" and get to pick nail gems, have glitter hairspray spritzed into their hair, and each girl will receive a goody bag with their own makeup they can have applied (makeup will be VERY light blush/eye shadow and clear lip-gloss for pictures, practically invisible- its more for the fun experience of getting ready for pictures) Then it's on to pictures! 🙂

Prices are for first child- additional children $15 each, up to three kids per session. (I advise only having multiple kids for the 20 minute session to permit enough time for lots of glitter fun!) This is a great session to book with friends, siblings or cousins 🙂

These sessions are geared more for kids who can take direction- so the ideal age is 4 and up, but you know your child and if you think they would be able to do things like throw the glitter, blow the glitter, etc and would enjoy the experience I'm not ruling out younger kiddos. As long as they are beyond the age of putting everything in their mouth I'm open to younger kids 🙂

If you have a little dude that would love a glitter session please don't hesitate to book! I can make a special goody bag and he can still enjoy getting his hair done and I'll have some fun tattoos available too that we can make sure aren't visible in the pictures but they can have the fun of getting them applied 🙂

This year will be my 10th year of doing Christmas mini sessions and I wanted to share some tips that will help any family with kids make the most of their mini session with their photographer 🙂

1)Set realistic expectations- kids are kids, even with bribes of candy, power and fame they're still going to act like kids. It's ok! Skip the embarrassment and feeling like you need to explain "oh my gosh, I'm so sorry they're acting like this!" Photographers have seen it all, we aren't judging! I have four kids of my own- and sometimes they're just going to do the exact opposite of what I really wish they would do.

2)Stay calm-Don't get frustrated and whatever you do, don't yell! Kids feed off your energy- if they can sense you're getting angry it's not likely they're going to put on that perfect smile- maybe they'll sit down and look at the camera and put on a fake smile with sullen or mad eyes, but there's no authentic smiles when the adults are mad. Stay calm and remember this time in life is short- in 20 years you aren't going to care that your 3 year old insisted on pulling his boots off or holding a little toy car in every photo. Let your photographer try some of their tricks- for example if I have kids in a silly mood that want to do silly things I say "Ok, lets do a silly one first, then lets do a realllly nice one to surprise your grandma (or whoever) with! They're gonna love it!"

3)Prioritize- If getting a nice family shot is on the top of your want list work on that first. If a sibling shot is more important than individuals work on that next. Photographers aren't mind readers, it's ok to tell us what is most important to you! Mini sessions go really fast, let us know what you're really hoping to get.

4)Be ready- I always say "arrive photo ready with full bellies and empty bladders" Typically photographers are shooting mini sessions back to back- don't waste your session time fixing pig tails or feeding the baby yogurt melts because he's hungry and getting upset. Make sure all the last minute touches are done before you get to the set.

5)Be OK with Plan B- There are scenarios that require a Plan B. Maybe Plan A was just the kids getting in pictures for this session, but your 3 year old is reallllly shy- Plan B is being willing to get in some pictures with your shy kiddo so you have on a decent outfit just incase you do have to slide in with her. Or maybe Plan A was the toddler was going to sit still and smile perfectly for the camera but it turns out he isn't going to be sitting at all and Plan B is getting cute candid shots while we put him back on the set 10 times.

6)Bribes- We love a good bribe- but it has to be the right bribe. If your kid would do a back handspring for a bag of cotton candy, get the kid some cotton candy BUT keep it in the car. Is your child a huge Bluey fan and a new toy will get them to give us some award winning smiles? Get the kid a Bluey toy, but again, it's gotta stay out of sight. Kid's aren't known for their impulse control so if you've got something in the studio that they can see they're going to spend the whole session trying to get it- maybe even getting upset because they want it in their arms but obviously you don't want Bluey in the Christmas picture or a mouth full of cotton candy. If your kid is younger and could use a little bribe for each pose stay away from chocolate or anything chewy. Chocolate is a mess and chewy things waste time. Smarties are ideal! Quick and mess free.

7)Have fun!! You know what looks best on the wall or Christmas card? A happy family! Don't worry about the perfectly posed picture, go into your mini session excited to get some updated pictures of your family, ready to be silly and that sometimes making fart noises is socially acceptable if it gets a laugh.

This will be more like seeing Santa at the mall, kids go in, say hi, take a nice picture together. Times are an estimate, not exact. You can decide the day of your session how many images you'd like, or you can wait for gallery delivery and purchase them from the gallery. Images will be heavily watermarked in gallery, watermarks will be removed upon download.

First session of the fall season and it was so much fun! :)

Marcho's Florist and Greenhouses is the perfect backdrop for a maternity session!

Sunday and Monday evening were all about cute couples!! Two great locations, two great couples!
